Ok so I am seriously thinking hard about the Hill People Gear chest rig but which one.

So for those out there that run these let’s see your load outs, I would like to see how they work for you.

I have also seen a harness system from primal outdoors that used the Condor T&T pouch, any thoughts on this, it’s about half the price (don’t get me wrong I do not mind paying for quality gear).

Shane's got a ton of pics from us using them. I love mine. Wouldn't be without it.

I vaguely remember you saying that the HPG kit bags looked too tactical. Lol

I love my Recon. It’s the standard model. I keep a multitool, flashlight, keys, phone, and a couple pre tied cat fish rigs inside. My izula is attached outside with a molle lock. I use it for river fishing because it keeps all of the junk out of my pockets except for a folding knife.

For those with the HPG, do you prefer the Heavy Recon Kit over the regular?

Heavy and I have tested V1 and II. Appreciate modular capabilities on all my gear. Will try to do some pics this weekend since they appear to be getting really popular with the hiking crowd. I have an original Blackhawk mod when Mike Noell had just moved out of his garage to a US sewing facility. Used to carry it everywhere until Fanny Packs became popular.

Is that Ranger Green (left) and Foliage Grey/Green (right)?

I use the Original V2 for fishing/rowing duties on the drift boat and the Heavy Recon with a Med Pocket centered on the outside...I love this kit...I have it OVER FILLED now and carry a g19 and spare mag as well...along with a Bahco laplander and heavy multi tool...I can carry it all day, never take it off, and it works great.

Im testing out some gear and will strip down the kit in a bit...plus I carry a pair of gloves and toboggan as well for colder weather...

In the pic above Jeff is wearing the molle compatible Recon....it is smaller but very useful.. I like the sizes of the Heavy Recon and Original V2 and I can easily wear a back pack with them and never have to take the Kit bag off.

Hill People Gear is good stuff and good people to boot. This isn't a paid endorsement either....I am a fan of gear that works and can utilized for many purposes.....I'll wear mine for gun hunting next season...just good stuff.

That's exactly what I said and still believe. Had a long talk with HPG at SHOT and told them this very thing.

Just got back from a little stroll in the mountains with my Runner's Kit Bag. Here's what I carried (along with a few other things, like phone, snacks and full-size folder in my pant pockets):

    M&P Shield
    compass
    lighter
    glo-stick
    .5L water container
    small flashlight
    SAK Farmer
    mini-minocular
    emergency whistle (not pictured)

That's about as much as I would ever want to pack into the RKB, and that's specifically what I bought it for - those times when I just need a minimal amount of stuff with me and an easy, low-key way to carry a firearm. For times when I need more stuff, I use the original Kit Bag, which is substantially roomier. And on big days, I'll combine the OKB with the Tarahumara pack. As you can see, the RKB is still pretty trim, even when fully loaded:

I'm in agreement with Jeff on this. I prefer to keep things as low-key as possible and don't want/need Molle, so I've stayed away from the Recon.

I’ve never had a chance to handle the heavy recon but think it would be too thick for my needs. I almost bought the original v2 but again I thought it would be too much.

There’s nothing on my recon’s webbing other then my izula and a surefire helmet light.

I think that the fit is somewhat contingent on your size also. I am not sure of the exact dimensions of the Recon but my Heavy fits me much better the others. I am around 6'3" and portly.

I like the MOLLE since I use it for radio, pen and GPS pouch but I just like a brighter color.
