I was watching a video dated 7/23/2024 and I saw this.. Looks like a 5 to me? Blown up. Looks like a 5 and a SAK {Farmer?} all in leather along with a Council Tools Boy's Axe. I want to say that the 5 was designed to a certain specification for a military application. I don't remember the details.
Description The ESEE-5 was designed by military SERE instructors as a hard-use downed pilot’s survival knife. Except for knife only models, the ESEE-5 comes standard with a Kydex sheath. Optional MOLLE Backs and Pouches may be ordered. That's copied from the website.
Don't want to comment too much but we do supply some ESEE-5's and ESEE-4's to SERE and also the Special Operations Forces Cold Weather Training Facility in Kodiak.
I think I read somewhere that SERE trainees get the ESEE 4/5 and can keep it if they successfully complete the training. Please don't ask me where I read that.
