My hunting buddy has one of the Ranch versions in .300Blk, it's a damn great shooter even though I personally feel .300Blk is pointless outside the AR platform in a sub-16" configuration.
I don't see the point of a 300 Blackout either, especially when there are so many AR and Bolt guns chambered in 9mm that don't require special detail to fire forming brass etc. That, and 9mm is roughly .35 caliber, so where is the advantage?
I'm currently building a 300Blk AR pistol, but only because a former member here @Joelski gifted me his original 10.5" barrel and gas system parts. I've had a JSE upper with an 18" bull barrel and 9" YHM forend sitting around collecting dust that I got in a trade that I'm going to put the 300Blk barrel in and ditch the 18" 223 Wylde bull barrel from. The only advantage for me personally is I don't currently have anything 9mm and I've got ample 5.56 AR mags to share with the 300. Having the extra parts sitting around made me curious enough to try it. I don't care for it I'll probably swap the barrel to a 10.5" 5.56. On a different note I've seen both 9mm and 223 share the same diameter case head and over the last few years have been kinda baffled why nobody's designed a cartridge by blowing out the neck/shoulder and loading a 9mm bullet to 223OAL. Seems like it could be a semiauto version of the .357mag or even .357maximum.
Yes, suppression along with cycling the AR with both subsonic and supersonic ammo without a need to have an adjustable gasblock.
I've been pretty impressed with my American 30-06. I wouldn't let the price put anyone off - this is a pretty well thought-out rifle with some features typically found on more expensive options.
I had an American in .308 when they first came out years ago but I had the X-Bolt .300wm so the .308 American got moved. I’d like to grab one in .223 I think. Or a Mossberg MVP
That’s a great barrel profile! Thick enough to minimize barrel whip. Light enough that your not questioning all life decisions if your hiking it
My buddy has one. I don't recall the details. I know he waited some time for the barrel. It’s a heavy profile and quite long. He also has a .50 Beowulf which is the craziest thing I've ever seen. See pic below compared with a 5.56 round.
