Just added the Xeno bezel to one of my Surefire 6P's. Really completes the look of the light and gives it a higher end look and feel.

I'm very partial to the Surefire Titan series for an every day light; they're very handy to have around. I know that Surefire has a bit of a premium, but they have replaced four of my lights over the last ten years with no questions asked.

How do you all feel about the Surefire E1B (11o lumen) vs. Malkoff MDC??

The Malkoff build and beam quality will be much better. I assume you're looking at the 1AA MDC? If so, honestly the output is a little underwhelming, but I didn't buy mine for the high mode. I have the 1AA MDC with a Nichia LED and the high mode is only 70 lumens, but its extremely useful in low light conditions. I typically only use the low and mid mode on mine when I need light in the middle of the night and don't want to disturb my wife. The neutral MDC 16650 is by far my favorite flashlight.

I’m not sure which one this is to be honest. It’s CR123 and I picked it up second hand. I expected to like it more from Malkoffs reputation, but I am a high light user typically and it seems built toward low.

Yeah, the cr123 version is kind of the odd duck for me. Too high of output for what I want in a low lumen light and too low for when I want to really light something up. If you got the cool white version I think that's a little over 200 lumens on high.

How can you tell which it is? It says MDC 3.4-5v on the head.

Interesting. It sounds like you might have one of the older li-ion head's which would explain why it's not very impressive if you're running it on a single cr123. Are you running it on the e1b body?

When I bought it it was on the E1B Body. I have it on it’s own body now.

If it says 3.4-5v on the head then it's not the same as the one in the link as that one is 3.4-6v. A single cr123 isn't going to really work and 2 cr123 may end up frying it since you'd be pushing 6v, but it might be able to handle it. Ideally you would want to run it on the MDC 16650 body with a 16650 li-ion battery or a 2 cr123 surefire e series body with a 16650.

I'd give Malkoff a call just to be sure.

    Well that man was awesome.

He said it’s one of their originals but it should do 400 lumens off an RCR or a 16855(?) or 2 CR123s if I find a body to house it.

I do have an RCR in an Olight so I’ll give it a try. He did say the run time on high would stink though with the rechargeable.

Also offered me the lifetime warranty if it wasn’t working right.

Yeah, Gene is a good guy!

If you end up with a 2 cr123 body I high recommend using a 16650 li-ion. You should be able to get 1.5 hours+ on high.

You might be able to find an older E series Surefire body, but they can be hard to come by. The MDC bodies are a little pricey and don't have any knurling which is a no go for some people. I like the MDC body as they're easy on my pants, and the size still allows for a solid grip. You're looking at around $60 with shipping for a new MDC body.

If you decide to go the MDC route let me know. I have a 15% off coupon that I probably wont use. As long as it's not tagged to my account you should be able to use it.

@dhunley1 one more question. Is the light still pocketable with the longer body on it? I like the slim profile and deep carry clip on this version and am afraid I would carry it with a bigger body.

I have no problems carrying it in my jeans pockets and I'm not a fan of a lot of bulk in my pockets. It still has a nice slim profile so I think it carries very nicely. I was a little hesitant at first, but it's become my favorite sized light for EDC. I don't notice any difference whether I'm carrying my MDC 16650 or my Fenix LD11.
