    7 strand and outer sheath

The fire part.....a wax soaked cotton thread, approx 1/8" thick.

    More photos loading and info.

Fire cord removed from main paracord strand bundle

Fuzzed up 4 strands of firestarter

As fuzzed up as I could get the 3" strand

Lighting it with a match.......it burns .....about 1 minute max.

Yea ok....not bad.......scatter this firecord all over your clothes and kit and bags ........good thing to have backups. ..

But.....plain ol cotton balls soaked in wax or Vaseline burn a **** of a lot hotter and longer.....

Still .........I like the idea of paracord .....laced with a internal firestarter........but why stop there... .???

Why not add fishing line, braided utility line, Kevlar line etc to the same paracord bundle. ...?????

Water test. Soaking wet FIRECORD.......THREE HOURS (basic BC rainfall ) let's see how it REALLY PERFORMS!,

Shook off the wet paracord, pulled out the firecord and tried to light if with ma Zippo

    Hmmm , let's try that again....Nothing happened

Nothing....3 tries... Last (4th) attempt I had to hold the Zippo under the wet firecord and it only burnt with a small flame for about ten seconds.. .

So ,much like a tranny sheep, we expect a little sumtin sumtin ......

Yet the Fire Cord , while having potential. ....let me down. ...

I give it a 10/10 for idea and concept, 10/10 for appearance and usefulness, 10/10 for DRY CONDITIONS PERFORMANCE, and a 2/10 for real life wet weather performance.

Glad you did the write up bushy, I've always been curious how well this stuff worked. Also I melt all my ends when I use paracord so that could get out of hand fast haha

Just caught up to this thread and I just don't see how you get a transmission in a sheep's ass.

I feel like I remember 5col offering a survival cord kind of like this. In addition to the normal 550, one inner strand was jute, there was fishing line and a fine wire that could be used for hooks maybe? At any rate, I like the concept of making the cordage more than just tensile strength.

Personally I never really saw the point of it. Regular ol' paracord certainly burns if you set it on fire, and it's honestly really hard to improve on good ol' PJCB's, but I'm a pragmatic cheapskate like that. :D
