I recently got a new pack and am trying to find a good way to attach my 3MIL to either the shoulder strap or (more likely) the hip belt.

I dont think I can make it work with the molle back. Can the clip plates be mounted to the molded sheaths in such a way that when clipped on a belt the knife would be horizontal? I feel like I tried this years ago and it didnt work but I have since lost my clip plate and dont have a way to try it again.

If not, I'm thinking I make try a small tek lok.

I think Nylon Straps (scout straps) are the most versatile.

Use a tek lock. That's what I use for my 3 on my pack and it works great

The one I got off Amazon says it can accommodate up to a 2 1/4" belt. Doesn't say large or small. But thats the one I use.

Finally got around to putting this new Tek Lok on my ESEE3. I've got just enough room on my hip belt to squeeze it on for horizontal carry right up front. Thanks for the input everyone.

I ordered the Tek Lok with hardware but the screws they sent aren't long enough to use with the rubber washers they send with it. Even without the sheath. I ended up using the washers with the longer screws from my ESEE molle back and they did the trick.

you can mount them horizontal by drilling a hole. Works great, costs nothing
