Local Adventurer @Twoody88 and myself will be embarking on a very wet, possibly dangerous , life threatening, multi destination excursion into the mountain canyons of HWY 3 , east of Hope BC Canada this upcoming weekend.

Destination 1 is the old Silver Daisy Mine east of Sumallo Grove in Manning Park BC. The bridge over 500' of river got washed out in the fall of 2021, and although another Adventurer and myself crossed the river, we did so on hard snow.

@Twoody88 and I will be crossing sans snow , literally wading up to our waists in ice cold spring melt river water. Then rucking wet to the old mine, cabins from the 50's, 60's, making lunch, rucking back and crossing the river again, then heading to Camp Defiance (Bill Robinsons old cabin area) and crossing that creek as well.

expect hilarious video, soaking wet adventurers , awesome photos of an era long gone, gear testing, stamina testing, and testing of ourselves in extreme ever changing weather, temps conditions. In fact, as a survival challenge , we are going with minimal clothes, gear to really test our physical and mental limits. It's a controlled experiment however, the truck is well stocked with gear and is less than an hour from the furthest point we'll be woods patrolling to. The calorie count of the foods we'll be eating before , during and after, is going to be huge. We expect to consume over 8000 calories each on this ruck.

In addition, there is the grizzly bears and cougars that frequent those mountains / canyons / rivers....

We only see the bear cubs.. the adults are smart enough to head the other way when they hear us stomping through the brush

Early start, I picked up @Twoody88 in West Van and we drove about 275 km's east to our destination. Rucked up the webbing rigs and headed down the trail. We were blessed to have a massive raven follow us from tree to tree in the Sacred cedar grove (Sumallo Grove) , croaking and warbling - a great omen of good luck.

We were expecting the river crossing by the washed out footbridge (from the debris torrents last year) to be underwater, due to the snow melt.
Last time I was here there was 5 plus feet of snow on the ground.
To our surprise, the river bed was not only free snow , but only one channel had water running thru it , and the fallen log was cross able.

didn't even the need the 4 pairs of spare socks I had packed. We fully expected to have to wade across almost 200' of river. We were very blessed to have a dry river bed, low water levels, and a cross able log, thanks to the blessings of Raven

more to come. Got 500 photos to wade thru.

The level of devastation from the floods last year is even more apparent now that the snow is gone. The river bed is 10' higher with boulders, packed rocks, gravels and sand, plus the hundreds of full sized trees that washed down the river and took out the very sturdy foot bridge. 9E0064A4-ABD1-496E-AD72-416BDCDB9767.jpeg 38A88795-E239-4E0C-9DAF-1445BBB805CC.jpeg FE2489FC-0AAA-492D-829E-1E97CB18452E.jpeg 9EC3BFF7-941D-4F56-AEE4-B03D82640B28.jpeg EC78474A-38B9-4967-8D30-4357E774E4CB.jpeg AAF16DE7-0E87-4B20-A3FF-09E29723A116.jpeg 7E1A55D4-6F29-495A-A7F3-012A00781AE2.jpeg 5A2633F3-53D5-4682-9102-E263131484B8.jpeg 405DB165-A1C2-4C5E-A863-67F8D87911FB.jpeg FC82F01F-8CF0-4D5F-95AE-42D5A39BC23E.jpeg 169E0C92-FCAE-4F07-992A-D93C9F0A65E5.jpeg
