Shane and I along with SAR personnel from NC ran Bonas Defeat canyon yesterday. Due to work being done on the powerplant on the dam that feeds Bonas Defeat, water was at an excellent flow making it a bit more challenging, but also more fun. Awesome trip and a great canyon to run.

This was a straight-up fun day, even though we all scoped it out for the when-not-if rescue that's coming. It will be an extremely tough rescue. A lot of the areas are not open enough for a helo with long line, so the patient will most likely have to be moved and that's gonna be some difficult movement to get to an extract area.

That last photo, does the helmet have a light bar- or is it a reflector?

    another tough day at "Work"........

Killer trip and I will echo what Jeff says....this place isn't on many peoples radar but as the popularity of Western NC continues to grow it is a matter of time before someone takes a header up here or gets caught in a flash flood and ends up needing some assistance.....there are a select few that would make that happen and I would say that most of those guys were in the group we were with.

The guys from MSAR continue to impress me with their quiet professionalism and dedication to their work. Every time we train with them we learn something and get better.....
