southerners..we will either be in Crocs (summer) or LaCrosse Alpha-burley mud boots (winter). It’s either fishing weather, or hunting weather. There’s no in between.

This is the first day I’ve had a chance to mess with this thing. Her Highness had to be out of town and that means it’s Play Time!!!

It was actually quite sharp, but I’m kind of ocd about things to the point I’ll hone up a brand new knife…

so I worked my way thru x-fine dmt, green compound on leather, then white on smooth leather…yeah. ;)

no snag, no resistance, that’s more me. 766E3933-A6EB-4FEA-AA51-06CCD2430BA7.jpeg The spine was also good and square but might as well use some wet/dry automotive paper and clean it up too.

To me hiking or backpacking is about seeing things, and food. I just really like the outdoor cooking experience, so any knife needs to be reasonably functional as a prep knife…

well it does work. You gotta think about your cuts but the edge can do it.

a good start on a top down fire. (Secret Squirrel tip: if your using these twig burners, go complete assembly including the top cross bars before you ignite. It really hard to near impossible to get them on after the stove is burning. )

this bugger gets really good air flow, great for actually cooking on.

I really like your cart set up! I have a strongway cart that I put my air compressor, floor jack, jack stands, etc etc on in a similar fashion so I can move it from my detached garage to my attached garage in one trip to work on my car . Currently my detached garage has 2 vintage cars in it that do not belong to me, once those are out of there I won't have to load up the cart anymore haha cool idea

“Proper Credit “. Always give credit to those that inspire.
Mindful of that rule so credit (or blame depending on your viewpoint. ;) )for this is goes to @Bushcraft_Dave and @Bushman5 , shield brothers who go about elevating and promoting the culinary arts with their wild creations.
This is my attempt at Tandoori Chicken with a side of Fondant Potatoes from a great cook, Jacques Pepin.

As with any dish you can imagine, there are hundreds of variations for the tandoori marinade. This is exactly none of them. :)

I came from the store with bags…that usually means tidbits for the fuzzy ones.

Extra garlic…just for good measure. This is going in the refrigerator for a full 24 hours.

    Cooking day….yeah. The fun stuff!

Master Pepin has a short little video on these potatoes, I don’t remember ever doing them so I’m going to try these…

    A843841B-296B-4FD9-BC44-036D9B6B498A.jpeg

Try as I might I don’t think my outdoor grill area is going to be sufficient for this. :( Such is life.
    Bring out the armor plate!!

    D8CFAD82-0F64-4CD7-9913-C90CDCE20313.jpeg

They require a little pre-cook, and I saw no need for a second pan just for boiling.

It’s time to put this experiment to heat. I’m determined to make enough for my food destruction crew!

    The final stage…

    2F3EF4E4-450E-4946-951D-62005EA95564.jpeg
these potatoes get boiled, then you squash/flatten them a little, then lightly fry them in oil. I decided mine were going to be more savory. Brown in olive oil, then top with chicken bouillon in which I dissolved a tablespoon of butter, and finally dust with Mrs Dash and Parmesan cheese. That will be better. :)

They are definitely delicious. The presentation is not perfect. I may try a different approach next time.

It seems like a lot, but these two can put the hurt on a spread.
I need to put more time into my outdoor space so I can pull off bigger batches. :O

This was sort of inspired by friend @Bushman5 and his broiled chicken the other day. So in my recipe files there’s a card for “Bushman’s Blend”. Someday my heirs will be cooking from the book going Who the heck is this “Bushman” guy?
    Congratulations buddy. In a small way, you’re now..immortal. :)

    7300B472-6183-426F-A4AD-51CE77D20A11.jpeg
Bushman’s Blend is a dry rub for meat. I layered it on and refrigerated for 24 hours…

    0BE93E69-F252-487C-B399-04DA1E19B7EB.jpeg

And in addition, on the left there’s onion flakes, whole caraway seed, and whole fennel seeds, which get just cracked a bit in the mortar.

This one’s nose told him he should lay down and look super cuddly…master gives out nibbles if we’re cuddly looking.
