Ha, we will be. They laid eggs more regularly than our hens do. We found them all spread out. One was drug into the woods with his head off. Close to where I found the den last year. The others were about 100 yards in either direction. Not eaten, just killed. I'm missing the other two, so I assume he ate those and left the others for later or just wanted to play with them. I've buried the ones I could find, so my dog wouldn't be tempted to chew into them. I'm setting up my call/decoy tonight. I don't have a red light but I'll see what I can do with what I have. I've shot steel at night up to 100yds with my current rifle setup. Should be good enough for a Fox chest shot.
Sad to hear that dude. I know how it feels, back in the day when I was living in the countryside we had issues with weasels. I do like foxes and even feed them as they stay close to my place but that's pretty much city centre. Here's a recent snap from the bedroom:

No. Stupid me left them out last night. I was rushing to get my mother in law from the airport and was late. They wouldn't go into the coop so I left them out. I've done it before and they were fine. But last night was high 50's which I assume got everything active again. Oh and yeah, I'm pretty sure. When it snowed earlier this week I saw paw prints that I thought were a cat. They were shaped like a cat but a little bit bigger. The mud that's left from the snow melting has no prints in it. My dog leaves prints in it so whatever was running around last night was light enough to not make an impression in the mud.
I trapped the weasel that broke into our coop two years ago. He was ******* PISSED. I've never heard an animal make that much noise.
Same thing happened to us. We were letting them free range during the day until we started seeing a fox that was a day walker and lost a few birds.
Heard an old farmer say once at the feed store... If you got livestock then you'll have dead stock too.
If they were nabbed during the day there is a possibility it could also be a Skunk.... Skunks and weasels are the primary culprits that get my parents chickens.... Each time I go visit normally ends up with atleast 1 night of skunk hunting on told of the real I set out.... Due to the large number of other animals around I always use a live trap with a 100 foot rope laid in a safe dragging direction. If I nab a skunk I'll pull it out a safe distance and shoot it anything else that doesn't belong we toss it in the truck and drive a few miles away and release it. No need to kill the critters unless it is a skunk or looks rabid or sick.
