New multi tool (wait what?) in the stable. TOPS KNIVES "HAKET" tool - (Hawk and Knife Emergency Tool) - tactical black version Cordura sock to store the tool in....it has AMPLE room for a Silky 2000 folding saw plus other gear! detachable knife/axe head, oval steel hardened hollow handle, 550 paracord handle wrap Beefy machined aluminum nuts, one side red loctited onto the slightly over 1/4" thick steel bolt. leather sheaths, with snaps Assembled.
Assembled as a bark spud or hide scraper, or as a knife with a loooong handle for better control using the knife/axe head on its own The head came screaming sharp out of the box. I destroyed a few panels of industrial cardboard (over 1" thick x 5' x 3' ) with both the axe side and knife side, zero loss of the razors edge. When used in tomahawk / axe mode , both edges (axe/knife) dug in very deep and quickly. when using the head by itself, it's comfortable ti hold in many positions. Adding to the kit..... I added a waxed cotton ball, pressed oval , to the bottom of the handle to prevent gear from falling out. It's secured by the big knot of the paracord wrap. Then I added fatwood splints, waxed jute, two more waxed cotton balls, and a little baggie of 6 Tinderquiks . Everything fits in snugly, doesn't rattle, and can be accessed in an emergency. If they do get stuck, a simple thin twig pushed thru the base of the handle will easily push the emergency kit out. I also wrapped some bankline, and a good length of flammable electricians tape on the handle one could put a ferro rod inside the handle, or a small bic lighter, but i already carry a ferro rod or two on my webbing rig.
Because it breaks down it’d be easy to carry thru a sheeple inhabited area to get off track without starting a panic. From a trailhead parking lot to a bush site for example. It’s black and has the word “Tactical” on it…you don’t want the 500 denier day glo man bunners to start yelling Rambo to the park police…even if it was filmed there.
perhaps not. It's not a hatchet, it's not a knife per se in the Trad sense of those terms. What it is , is a singular, small compact multi tool , that can chop (even small trees), cut , prep for fires, be used a bark spud or scraper, and has storage for tinder / FerroRod etc. Not mention the weapons capability of it.....it's on par with any tomahawk that size, perhaps more so due to the knife spike It's the type of tool one would carry on an ATV, skidoo, Jeep kit, bicycle, motorcycle, ruck, canoe etc , so you can chop / split / cut / prep wood & branches for fire , shelter build , dress game / portion meat etc, in an impromptu overnighter , emergency etc - Again in a highly portable light compact package, easily stowed on said transportation the head can be lashed to a stick for use as a spear as well. Its definitely a "think outside the box" kind of multi tool. Think of it as an Izula , with a build in 2.25" hatchet, with a detachable multi use handle I can totally see this being carried in a bush plane survival kit, due to its multi use , compact size
Multi part tools like that just don't fit with my K.I.S.S. lifestyle. Neither does your climate up there.
