Although I don’t find the shape very aesthetically appealing, I could see it as a lightweight option for small sticks, ect for a twig burner. Decent digger tool or debris hatchet. You go to moving things around down here you gonna find something infested with fire ants or a copperhead under it….

    A tale of twopacks.

On the left, my well used BlackHawk A3-L. On the right a Becker BPP from Bongo Gear.
The box being my usual contingent of things I carry around in the briar patches of the homeland.

After a couple of hours of messing around with pocket contents arranging. Wa-la.
My standard walk about kit doesn’t even really fill the interior out. Theres more than enough space for a comfortable 3 day load out.
2 thumbs up for the suspension on this one. Once I had the hip belt, shoulder straps, and lifters all set I barely notice it on my back.

PROMETHEUS DESIGN WERKZ titanium / carbide ferro rod scrapers x 2. Having used a carbide scraper on a ferro rod, the difference between carbide edge and knife edge is insane - 1000% more sparks / heat

PROMETHEUS DESIGN WERKZ Ti-SST in black. (I already have two, one black , one titanium , one is for tinderquiks, one is for storm matches, this new one will be for IFAK meds. All have 40 lb spectra line wrapped on them - and they all fit vertically in Molle grids

Nabbed this off the FB group. Been after a 3 for a while, have always liked the sawtooth scales and this was a good deal.

    20230317_122633.jpg

Did some carving with it on my try stick.

The hole was done with the small blade on my SAK.

@Dagwood made me a good deal in these. A 440C Izula and a nice 4 that shows hardly any use.

Just arrived, my JayJayBreConUK Commanders Pouch.

took a huge $$$ hit on this one, the CAD $ is worthless against the UK Pound $.

pouch was $49 Pounds, shipping $40 Pounds , customs fees on the Canada side $20 CAD

for a grand total after exchange rates of $170 CAD .

Why did I spend so much on a single pouch? Cuz I don't have a choice in Canada. No one carries JJ's here or in the USA, and our dollar is worth .45 cents -

the pouch is "robust" to say the least. On par (even better than) with HSGI , etc. Literally nukeproof. Wish it was lighter / thinner composite fabric , but it is what it is. Extremely robust construction, and I have a no questions asked lifetime warranty from JayJays - they stand behind their gear and treat their customers like gold.

    Specs

Removable (Velcro) divider inside, with pen slots. You can fit in a TAMs paper book , maps, binoculars, Nav gear, and still have ample room.

my plan with this pouch is to condense /consolidate my survival gear (PLB, signal mirror, marker panel, RITR notebook, pens, glowsticks, Storm whistle, FerroRod , German SAK, tinder tube , flagging tape, water purification tablets, etc in my webbing rig etc into ONE pouch on the webbing, freeing up much needed space in the ButtPack, possibly getting rid of extra pouches.

I resolved to upgrade some of the stuff I’ve used to get more performance and to address some issues that have bitten me over the years.

These have been on my radar for a long time. As far back as when the Heavy Cover versions came out. This brand is a bit more budget friendly.

    BE42F4AB-245C-49CF-9562-9F062623BB89.jpeg
It appears to be a well made item. Mine was pristine clean inside and out.
    By my calculations 1100 ml = 4.64 cups or approximately 1 quart + 3/4 of a cup.

    20E23E04-4318-42AC-B04D-52FB89D11870.jpeg
It came with this molle attachment pouch as well as a shoulder strap. I give this part a “Meh” rating. The material and stitching seems ok but the small tooth nylon zipper closure seems excessively weak and is hard to manipulate. Even more so when the pouch is actually mounted to something. I haven’t checked it for fit to the current US mil spec issue canteen pouch but I will be trying that for future reference.

    0727AC31-0972-49AC-B4A5-675BAC9099A8.jpeg
It has a wide mouth opening. I used hot water, soap, and a green scrubbie for a vigorous shake clean prior to using and had no problem fishing the scrubbie back out with my fingers.
There were complaints in the reviews about the coarse threads and metal to metal contact being harsh on the ears.
It does make noise but I have not found it to be excessive or detrimental to my use.

On this not at all scientific balance beam it weighs about the same as the Naglenes I’ve previously used.
It does offer some advantages. I’ve managed to destroy a few Nags over the years, completely deformed one by leaving it too close to a fire. Melted the cap on another same way. A few have developed cracks or become extremely brittle.
This thing is both lightweight and fire proof. You can even boil in it (without cap) and there’s lots of videos showing it.
Overall I’m getting good service from mine and would recommend them as a decent product for your investment. :)

Snugpak Patrol Poncho VS a CDN Forces CadPat poncho

    Snugpak much much smaller, lighter

the Cadpat poncho is quite robust however.... but comes with a packing & weight penalty.

    IMG_3937.jpeg

I'll be pairing the Snugpak poncho with my Helikon-Tex Swagman poncho liner / sleep system

Been wanting a bladder for my Fastpack for a long time. Saw this today and jumped on it.
    upload_2023-4-21_1-48-37.png
Source Tactical 1 Liter Kangaroo Hydration System
Not Helium Whisper, but I doubt I'll use the pouch much as the bladder will fit perfect in a slot in the Fastpack. So if I need extra water, I'll have options.
