I made this today for my mom's birthday. I decided to use the flap for a divider. Next time I will do it differently. I shouldn't have made the divider as wide as the body, I should have sewed it like the back pocket of jeans. It made the ends curl so I had to trim the flap after I assembled it. Customer says chrome. I just need to add the clasp and make a strap. IMG_20221209_182010330.jpg IMG_20221209_182021085_HDR.jpg

I tried some new stuff and learned a lot. I used weed eater string to make the piping, but I screwed up by making it too long. Since it was cemented and sewed I had to cut the leather and all when I got to the seam because the piping got too bulky. So then I had to come up with a way to hide the ugly cut ends. Those 2 screw cross conchos worked out perfect. I also painted the edges for the first time.

The split rings are just temporary, I haven't decided what I am going to replace them with yet. IMG_20221210_175817201_HDR.jpg IMG_20221210_175829630_HDR.jpg

I had to add a rough out shoulder pad to keep the strap from sliding. I'm really happy with how everything turned out. My buddy loved it. IMG_20221213_002937408.jpg

I made my dad a belt from saddle skirting. Burnishing those edges by hand was a pain, I'm probably going to get a machine for that. IMG_20221218_004140515_HDR.jpg

Here's the sheath that I made my dad. This is the first one I have made except for a kydex and a pocket sheath. IMG_20221218_143201323_HDR.jpg IMG_20221218_143221986_HDR.jpg

taking a class on making a show pattern at the end of January - we'll see how that goes.
I tried making a pattern previously and it needs some help before I ruin more leather.

I ran a stitch too far in a couple places and wasn't able to trim it like I wanted. I didn't want to risk the stitching coming loose by cutting through it. I was real happy with how the cloth lining turned out. I used cement and my new steel roller to attach it. The steel rollers were one of the things my girlfriend bought me for Christmas. Without the roller, I probably would have used glue instead.

I made a zippered handbag for one of my girlfriend's daughters. It was my first time doing a zipper. I also lined the snake embossed sheepskin with veg tan. I didn't think I was going to be able to turn it right side out, I ended up soaking in in water. I think I nicked the zipper with my scissors, it has a bad spot. I was in a hurry to finish before she went to the airport this morning and didn't get a picture of the outside. IMG_20221230_205017506_HDR.jpg

Duffel/"sea" bag - nominally 9" diameter by 21 tall, the 2 toggles an slots give me 3 compression heights.
This is it holding a full sized pillow, a compact/low pro cot, and a slumberjack xl jungle blanket.
