I've been off-line for the last four days. Moved again. Move only took two days, but getting plugged back into the Matrix took two more. After the peace and freedom I experienced while unplugged (no smart phone), walking in Maine woods (especially that red pine grove among glacial erratics in the 100 acres west of here), I contemplated postponing the replugging. But against my better judgement, I plugged back in. Then I watched the last five episodes of season 4 of Hell on Wheels. (Memo: "Ruth. Come'on, don't be a martyr. Oh, crap .. too late.") Sleep is soon. More videos about daggers are forthcoming. We need videos about dagger: pages reviews training history action films mythology optimal design etc
Jeeter, my apology. I just found your comment. Not sure how I overlooked it, but I did. Yes, different blade choice for me. I own some flat grinds for EDC (Izula foremost among them) and scandi's for my time in the woods and countryside, where bushcraft is valued. (I just moved out of another evil city -- remember my last location? -- never to live in one again; back near the wilds where I belong.) But a dagger has only one purpose, really, and it's neither opening packages, slicing salami or bushcraft. I've always wanted one. I own a compact 9mm for SD. But there could be times when SD requires quiet. And for some reason, I'd rather not have to use my Izula or a scandi for that job.
Here's an engaging, entertaining and informative video on making a small dagger with 01 steel, brass and purple heart wood.
Next: Emily Bear. If you get bored by formality, just jump to 13:00 for the bumble. Gonna buy that SWHRT9B this week.
For some reason I really want one of these for my plate carrier. http://www.knifecenter.com/item/MT1...ixed-45-double-plain-edge-blade-hollow-handle
Looks like it'll hold a fatty in the handle nice and dry for that last all is lost smoke session lol! Jokes aside I do like that design, the blade reminds me of the old OSS daggers from WWII.
It would definitely hold a good little stash of whatever recreational you wanted to go out with. I would likely put a little bit of the devils dandruff in there and go on a dagger spree if it was my last chance.
Ah, good to see this thread developing a life with soul and spirit. Daggers and sharp music: What a great mix. I've been pondering why I was so motivated to post music above by the young female composer/pianist Emily Bear, who a week ago, became my favorite pianist ever. She's amazing. I liken her music and spirit to be daggerlike. It has literally openned a whole new chapter in my musical appreciation (and many of you know of my other musical tastes, and some hate them -- which is fine -- different strokes). Ms. Bear is a musical genius. ______ I found some more videos of the SWHRT Dagger I'm interested in. Will post more downstream.
8 hours and a turkey dinner (w/ PBR) since the last post now, I suggest that we turn it up a notch, @FortyTwoBlades
The first knife I ever wanted was a gerber mk 11. Grew up reading Mack bolan books. My girlfriend daddy drove in the snow to get me one for Christmas present. He was a marine combat veteran in Vietnam. The girlfriend is now my wife and he died a couple years ago from lung cancer. Still think of him every time I pull it out.
And of course, we have to acknowledge the grandaddy of the modern combat daggers. https://www.boker.de/en/fahrtenmesser/boeker/taktische-einsatzmesser/120543AF.html
I will definitely own one of those one day. The story of those two guys and their development of it is awesome and reason enough to own one for nostalgia sake.
