CONTEST! Transpiration Bag Water Gathering

Global challenge!

Gather water by using five (5) plastic bags to gather water using the transpiration method from shrubs , trees etc.


RULES!

this challenge will run from July 1st 2022 to August 31st 2022.

- use 5 bags (clear / black) for 5 days (can be non consecutive days)
- take lots of pics and post them here
- describe your local terrain / flora / weather / local temps
- show how much water you gathered daily from the 5 bags
- describe how long it took to gather that water daily
- post up on how much water TOTAL you harvest using this method over the 5 days.

PRIZE!!! (1 prize - winner selected randomly)

seriously cool @Sam Wilson BUSHsteel up for grabs. All you gotta do is tie 5 bags for 5 days to some bushes and take photos of how much water you gather using the transpiration method.

I'm literally spending about $80 CAD to get a @Sam Wilson BUSHsteel into someone's hands , just for tying a few bags to bushes...

 

I was all set to have a go at this. I got bags, twine, plotted the best possible locations and……



4 inches in an hour! Roflmao!!

 

So I’ve been meaning to do this but have been so busy with back-to-school stuff…But the kids have been back a week now and things are getting back to routines again (at home and at school).

So a little about my area….
I’m in NW Ohio which is overall considered an Eastern Woodlands. Many many years ago this area was a black swamp but was drained for farming. I live in the outskirts of a major city
( >300k). But I’m blessed to live in a neighborhood that butts up to a nature preserve owned by the metro park system. It’s called a “wet woods”. It’s full of giant oaks mostly but junk trees are also scattered about. The ground is never muddy but it’s also never completely dry either. I’ve seen deer, rabbits, fox, a coyote and even an escaped peacock lol.

I’ve never attempted this before so I wanted to try different bags and different trees/plants. I know that creates a lot of variables but it is what it is lol….I tied them up yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon and will take pictures roughly every 24 hours for the next 5 days. All bags have a small rock in them to hopefully create a catch for the water…
