Good ole hernia is acting up so taking some days off, so worked on my RedBear 6. Added a Sagewood gear dangler, flashlight, cheap leather work and added a bear paw to it, along with a little spine work. Dragon scale concealment sheath also with RedBear Customs custom scales Custom ferro rod coming soon....
Ok so I am a loyal 6 owner with slabs scales. I wanna either get one with contoured handles or the HM model. What’s everyone’s suggestions in that? I do really like the green blade coating so if I can’t get that in HM then might make my mind. Up easier.
The HM is only in black if that changes your mind at all. The contoured scales are very nice. Either way you will be happy.
The HM is absolutely awesome, but the green coating I believe is available only on an unmodified handle. The good news about that though, is that the 3D handles on newer 6s are shaped and feel so perfect in the hand. Either way, you’ll be making the right decision.
Making tea outdoors to get some warmth at -2 degrees today Opinel 12 for some clean logs Esee 6 for breaking it down to kindling for lighting up the Kelly Kettle
Lovely balance and feel in the hand, but it's too thick behind the edge for my liking. I will have to thin it out a bit, like I did with the other 6.
I spent around an hour and a half thinning out the edge of the 6HM. I really like the result and hope to take it on an adventure soon. Now it cuts like a knife should.
here is my Esse 6 with knife connection scales. I use a shemagh to tie it around my waist with a square knot, learned that trick from ALlen Kay, comfy to wear easy to take off on and on, and you always have a shemagh with you , i have the large esse pouch on it so I can carry some extra gear, head lamp, sharpener, water purification card from grim workshop, signal mirror whistle, compass, fishing kit, auto fisher, fat wood, ferro rod, tinder tabs, small chem lights, small fishing kit, tube with hooks spinners weights, a small bobber, prob will try to add some cordage to it soon. wazoo saw in a tube, and cordage in a tube from wazoo too, striker for ferro rod the best ones I have seen. fully loaded little kit for sure.
Tea with the hobostove from my Kellykettle. Esee 6 for wood processing... My coating is flaking on one side of the blade?! Lit a featherstick with my ferrorod an transferred that to the stove to light it. Practicing a little because it's not always running as nice as I'd like when cooking on it. This time was pretty ok
