I think we're going to take a little day trip tomorrow, from Branson into Arkansas. We'll be going down 65 to 7 hwy to dogpatch then to the Arkansas grand canyon then to yellville and back. Is there anything on the way or close by that would be good to see?

    Never mind, headed northwest instead.

If you get down that way the Buffalo River Scenic Riverway Park has some neat sites. NW of Jasper they have an old homestead they somewhat keep up that you can walk around in, lots of river accesses. If you don't mind some back roads there is stunning views to find, one of my favorite places I've worked.

Sweet, thanks for the info. We went to the Joplin area today but I think Monday we'll head down to Arkansas. I've been to the Buffalo River and it was gorgeous. Don't mind back roads either, in fact I prefer them.

Drive over to Ponca and the elk herd may be out. Couple easy hikes in that area also that only take a couple hours with water falls and caves

I regret not spending more time hiking there and getting to see the herd when I lived in the area.

They were having a big cull around the park, 2017 I think, had one of the stations to check for disease right by my job location, you don't realize just how big they are until you see them in the back of a truck.

It's settled, going to Ponca Tuesday, then over to the Arkansas grand canyon. It won't be as pretty being wintertime but it should be cool.

My wife and I took the hiking trail around the canyon a couple years ago. Short, but fun.

The shorter the better lol. I watched a video about a trail there that had some caves, I think we may try that one if it's not too long. I forget the name though.
