    Hi guys,
my name is Thorstein and I live in Germany.
I was glad to receive a well used Esee Junglas II from Canada. It is the first time that I have an Esee knife in my hands.
The Junglas II feels great but it is not in a good condition.

In the next days I try to turn it into a beauty.
I hope, that it is not too boring for you, as this will be just another etching job.

This is how to knife came to me.

    Thanks,
I hope that I will get it done. It is really hard work to get the skull logo in a shape that will allow to etch it.

    We will see…

Some weeks ago I got handle scales from TKC.
These are the brown Micarta scales. 8232CF3B-E275-4EAB-8B6B-2861F03AFCE0.jpeg

Was the knife etched by the previous owner?

Nice scales! I will get them for my J2 too, I love how they feel on the 6.

No, the knife wasn’t etched by the previous owner. I like the skull logo, so I try to save it with the help of etching.
After that I will remove the coating.

After some hours of reshaping the logo, it looks like this.

    @Thorstein
    It is looking very good!
I would look up some of the etching @Drew RedBear has done. I think he has some harder etching jobs and could give some ideas if you need them.

Looks really good. I'm assuming you meant etching, not reshaping? Lol.

    Nice cleanup so far :)
I'd remove the coating the old fashioned way: baton the hell out of it for many years :D

Until now I didn’t etch the logo.
I only was working with some needles and tried to scratch the dirt and corrosion out of the lines.
Cleaning with alcohol was helping a lot.

I will start to etch today. I have no experience with that…

Because I have no experience with acid etching,
my first steps are marked by being very carefully.
After the advice from Drew RedBear (many thanks), I will do the next knife with electro etching.
The reason for that is, that acid etching takes much too long.

In USA I think RadioShack is very popular.
In Germany we don‘t have that product.
    I took the following:

Actually I am just applying it only on the surfaces that I want to etch.

After applying and cleaning it approximately 15 times and letting the acid work for 30 minutes each time,
    it is looking like that.

For me, it is etched enough. Shouldn’t be too deep.
I worked until now only on the Junglas letters.
As I said, I have to get some experience.

Agreed on the “shouldnt be too deep” part. I did one too deep and everything i cut got smashed into the etched logo. Bad deal. Your work looks solid. That blade will be thankful to be in your care.

Filling some minor scratches with paint to protect it from the acid.
Now I can go on with that extremely cool logo ;).
