The slight delay in the “click-boom” of front loader has always enthralled me. Low smoke too….What was your load specs here?
That was a .49 patched round ball pushed by 65 grains of Swiss Black Powder. Flintlocks are portrayed very unrealistically in movies. I will post a real time as soon as I can load it to YouTube.
Love it! I got involved in bp shooting some years ago. Tons of fun. My favorite was my Ruger Old Army. Miss that thing a lot.
I had a cap and ball revolver when I was young but never was interested after that. I have a 100 yard range close by that allows black powder rifles. I ordered a kit on a lark and became fascinated with them. I am building the fourth one this year, two of them for me. The best long range for center fire rifles in this area closed. I am too lazy to drive all day to shoot. I can’t hear the steel hit very well past at longer distances so these are pretty good for me.
My Hawken flintlock at night - 50 cal silk patched round ball with 100 grains GOEX FFG blackpowder. If you slow the YouTube playback speed to .25 , it's pretty cool to see
It might seem a blink to the uninitiated, but it’s quite distinct to the person ….fzzz Booom. I miss the smell of the line..
yep , short barrel . Silk patch because my neighbour had a ton of old silk fabric she no longer needed. Free is awesome
