Every Spring I take a pic of how the CL-001 is holding up. It’s sort of a my long-term review. As a recap, this cleaver was first used as a pass around for people on this forum. It was abused by many, and thrown by a few. Since I got it back a few years ago, it is used almost daily at Expat Manor, either indoors or outdoors. Mrs. Expat cares little about proper knife care. She thinks nothing of using this to chop up roots of bushes in the yard, and then leave it in the sink for a couple of days. In short, it has never been babied. It has never been oiled to the best of my knowledge. The edge gets fixed from time to time on an old worn out DMT stone. This year I decided to take the scales off to see how much rust was under the walnut. Enjoy the pics. I do this for the purpose of letting potential buyers know you can count on your knife for years to come and you don’t have to use kid gloves with it.
You guys know he’s lying right? He’s got a professionally trained chef that once worked for the SA cartels that the fbi’ers put in witness protection hiding out on his heavily guarded estate. Expat you need to get onto that guy about taking better care of the bosses equipment!
Excellent !!! Mine lives in the side of the bag that lands in my Lancruiser whenever I head away, I tend not to use it for gardening but it has diced lots of meat, vegetables and other kitchen fare. It is currently packed again now to head off. I haven't of course pimped it out with fancy wood or tales of daring do though.....
I've been looking at that picture for half an hour and still haven't found that nut you're talking about.
That is absolutely beautiful in the ugliest way. I LOVE neglected knives. I think I really want one of those cleavers...and then another one that is the same but with another 12” of cleaver blade on it...like some sort of axe, cleaver, machete, Saracen sword kinda thing...
I’m still wondering who botched the cutout of Austria on the blade. I mean where is the QC? Not only is it misshapen, it’s turned in the wrong orientation.
