For sure! Red ears were always one of our main targets when I used to go with my dad. I almost love those as much as crappie.
Here’s from last Thursday afternoon. They were stacked in a channel ambushing minnows in the current.
Set the boat up for some frog gigg'n Fabricated a grab bar for stand-up operating, painted and installed frog shoot, assembled new telescopic gig, and cleaned up the antique Shakespeare electric trolling motor.
Nice! I've got a Jon boat set up similar for bowfishing and gigging. There a lot of fun! I like the frog chute. I've been thinking about setting up something like that as well.
Not many would call this fishing or hunting but got my catch of crawdads! (126 of them) and to get ready for actual fishing I picked up a new reel, Kastking Royale Legend GT.
That's fishing in my book. Great catch. I've got a couple spots I'm planning on running some crawfish traps. They don't get very big in ohio, but they still taste good.
Something in the water in AZ Very few runts, most were a good size. They did make for plenty of eating!
We get some nice sized ones, but the tails are lacking. Seems like 50% of their size is the claws. Still makes for good creole recipes.
Earn A Buck here in NJ for early season so I had to smack a doe on opening day! This juicy momma is already at the butcher. Hit her about 8am after missing an opportunity on a smaller (more tender lol) one at about 6:30 this morning. She went all of 50yds. I had a quartering away shot but she pulled her leg back as I released. Ramcat Hydroshock broadhead did its job. It cut her elbow off, broke 2 ribs, got her heart, 2 ribs on the other side, and snapped off in the far shoulder/leg. Snapped my arrow in half and destroyed the broadhead but overall I’m impressed with it.
I had to have a double take to make sure that wasn’t Randy Savage with those shades... savage enough. Congrats on the early season stick! Good eatin’ there sir!
