I’ve been wondering how less impactful the flu would be every year if masks were more prevalent over the winter.

You're right about the symptoms, but if you aren't coughing, spitting, sneezing, ect. you shouldn't be spreading germs very far. Like you said some people are just nasty though.

From what I have read there was less flu cases this year because of mask wearing.

My state "Utah" actually sent free washable masks to people to wear, so there really is no reason
    to not wear one.

Last time I got the flu it knocked me and my family down hard, I don't want to see how this virus feels.

My state mandates them so I’m glad the places I normally shop and have to go to don’t care and don’t enforce. It’s my choice and I will not be forced.

Lots of folks have gotten sick from people that weren’t sneezing or showing any symptoms at all.

Its not about being forced, its about taking care of one another, I wear a mask, you wear a mask and we all
prevent this from spreading and causing more deaths and shutdowns.

    Its really that simple.

I have no idea what we are going to do with our son as far as school starting next month.

It may end up being homeschool for a year.

No lunch rooms. Students eat in a classroom.

No shared gym spaces: wresting mats, etc.

All rooms have an occupancy threshold, size dependent.

Class size number have been reduced to allow for social distancing in classroom.

No shared tables or desks in library, etc.

Temp checks at school bus entrance and at the door of the school for everyone.

Online class plan if anyone in school has the virus (or a family member, or a neighbor, ...)

Looking like there will be A LOT of online stuff this fall.

school reopenings/closing...as far as the damage done on kids missing out this school year (or two) is overblown...missing out on a year or two of school year won't mean they'll be flipping burgers for the rest of their lives...i'm living proof of that. i was a lazy student up until junior high school, barely had passing grades until then.

sophomore year i was still in the philippines and for that entire year i knew we were moving to the states next year so i went slacker full time - i literally skipped school every monday...for an entire year! my dad almost bribed my teachers to give me passing grades so i don't get held back but it turns out our grade c in the philippines is still considered a grade b/b+ over here :D

so parents don't sweat it...enjoy your time with your young kids...high school is where it starts to matter and more importantly don't let them major in some crap like history or archeology...pick a stem major and they'll be alright :)

Yeah if my kids have to wear masks they won’t be going back to school. there is no way wearing masks all day is good for your health. Nor can they prove that a mask is going to stop anyone from getting sick. But if your afraid of getting sick. By all means wear a mask. But it’s not for me and my family.
MA schools still haven’t figured out what’s going on.

    All the grades matter.

Out oldest is about to go into Pre K (which these days is basically what K was when I was that age).

Our kid’s haven’t been out in public since March.
We’ve gotten them out of the house, but they have not stepped foot inside a store or restaurant or anything in that time.

I worry about him missing out on socializing and learning how to be around groups of people. He can’t learn that at home.

As for the mask, mine protects you and yours protects me, from each other.

It’s going to be more effective than not wearing one at all.

Much is still unknown, we are learning more every day.
Now they are starting to report it may be airborne.
If that is truly the case, then the masks for the most part could be considered worthless.

I wouldn’t say I’m scared of catching it. I just don’t want to catch it. No different than I don’t want to catch the flu or strep throat or the common cold.
The difference is the unknown, I’ve had those other things, and we deal with them enough that we know how to treat it.
It looks as though we are either getting better at treating Covid, or because it’s younger people getting it the cases just aren’t as severe.
Either way, I’ll try my best for as long as possible to not catch it.

Our lives will never be the same as they were to start this year.

My kids were so excited when they opened up the playgrounds we have been every day for the past like 2-3 weeks or however long it’s been.

Visited family at the lake today.

Is the busiest I’ve ever seen it.
Barely any open spots for campers.

At least the local stores are going to be making some good money this summer.
