So after making a handle for my Altitude, I was playing with an idea I had for a while. I superglued one end of a braided fishing line, wrapped the handle, then superglued the other end and covered it in fiberglass resin. Gives it a nice grippy texture. Those of you who think their handles are too slippery can try this, if you want.
Just a 50lb braided line. You can find them at Academy or pretty much any store selling fishing equipment.
I used Bondo resin. If the line was white, you'd see the "dingy yellow", but it looks clear when the material is dark.
Interesting. It does look nice on the green braid. I never considered background color would effect the look of the dried epoxy.
http://www.evercoat.com/product-detail/base-part/100552/us/ This stuff. Check around at local hardware store/Home Imp. centers. I wanna say its about $40 per quart, as I remember it. It's been 10 years since I used it.
I've used minwax wood hardener over paracord before and loved the way that turned out. Paint on a couple coats and you cant even tell the paracord is coated but it is hard as a rock.
