Love the GR1! Tough as nails just like the knives. I thought I'd do a comparison of the 4HM and JII to see if I like using the JII for tasks I typically use a smaller knife for. So far I'm pleased.
This ESEE 4 originally had a black powder coat which made striking a ferro rod near impossible. I sanded off the powder coat with some 240 grit sandpaper. Then I polished the steel with 600/1000/3000 grit sandpapers in that order until it had a mirror finish. Next, I cleaned the blade with some 91% rubbing alcohol to remove any oils/residues from the blade. Then, I dabbed some yellow mustard onto the blade and let it sit for 30 minutes. Cleaned off the blade and applied some Sentry Marine Tuf-Glide to seal and protect the steel. I really like the way it turned out.

Finally found me a ESEE 3 in S35VN after searching high and low..it’s from the first production run and is number 0047..She is a real beauty,I thought the new handle scales looked like they would be a little too thick in pictures but they are amazing..I also have a ESEE Junglas,ESEE 4 and an Izula..it’s kinda late and I don’t feel like fishing them out right now but I’ll come back in here tomorrow and take a picture of the whole family and introduce the others to their new red headed stepchild of a brother...lol
Mud izula-2 that I won in the drawing. I put it on my camelbak that I use to bike with. I found out I have enough knives to put one on all my packs that I do different things with.
