I have a question regarding the sale of a switchblade knife here in the US. I have a Benchmade 9101 and was looking to try and sell it here on the forum.

I got to reading the Federal Switchblade Act and got to thinking it was illegal. Can I post the switchblade and mail it to the guy that arm wrestles me out of it?

    Thanks for the help!

Buyers responsibility to know and follow their state and local laws.

Yeah, it's that federal law I was asking about. I didn't know as a seller if I needed to be aware of anything.

I'll probably post it with that line. I knew I'd see it written like that before.

    Thanks for the help!

When it comes to "controversial" items like these. It's always best to cover your ass, adding disclaimers to your for sale posts. i.e. Must be 18, must be legal in your state, no international sales, etc etc. That said, I've seen the occasional butterfly knife and switch blade for sale, doesn't seem to be an issue as long as you're not trying to "smuggle" it into a country or state that prohibits said item.
