After a little bit of stabbing, prying and batonning, I obtained my prize.

    Moving on. More berries!

I found some fatwood to throw in my pack for later. I usually never pack the stuff with me, unless I’m headed in to a known area where it is a lot harder to find. The ideal natural fire starter. Especially in vehement weather.

This knife has been on a few adventures and mishaps.

I should have brought my mushroom book.

    No idea what this is.

Moving on to a different area, I was headed to a location. 70 km off of a maintained logging road. It was a long way in. No cell service whatsoever.

I stopped to perform a function check on my shotgun before I hiking in from the truck and spotted these deer across the river. Good sign!

The deer moved on and so did I. I was trying to find an area where two big rivers join up. This is the main river. Absolutely beautiful.

Good fishing in this river. I was pretty keen on bear awareness on this trip. The salmon are really late coming up to this area and there were bear trails going down to the river everywhere I looked as it would seem. They were hungry. Luckily we have had a dumper season for wild berries.

Not a lot of visibility here. It’s hard to see but the whole area was trampled down from bear activity. Crazy!

This is where the two rivers meet. Very cool. Nourish clear glacier water meets deep green forest river.

    I love this area.

I am going to return in the fall.

A few pieces of gear that I had on my person during this adventure.

I did a little bit of fishing, but the area seemed pretty “quiet” and I felt like I wasn’t alone in this area. I stayed a while and cooked some lunch before I walked out. Did t really take any pictures as my focus was elsewhere...

About a week or so passed and I was off on another trip. I try to get out as much as I can. This time it was to a large lake in the interior.

I brought my family this time. Closest town isn’t very big and is mixed with an Indian reserve. Good people, but small town. Small RCMP detachment etc.

There were rock bluffs near the camp site. My boys wanted to look for “caves” lol

My little monsters can cover some serious ground when they want to. We were having a blast.

    4F647B7E-7CD7-4B21-A924-46E31028738D.jpeg

Both of my sons have been in rock climbing for years. After I checked over some of the rock faces looking for loose shale and debris, they climbed like spiders.

This is the bay we were in. 100% natural pebble beach here. Awesome area.

The fishing here was unreal. We could limit our every day, but only kept a few to eat each night.

    0359B408-7A5B-4117-BC9C-B92E3893C3B5.jpeg

Other than the cliffs, it was a pebble beach all around this area.

We also found death cap mushrooms. My kids know to NEVER, EVER touch or eat wild mushrooms without proper identification.” If you don’t know, don’t touch it”

Tall poplars everywhere with coniferous trees further up in the hills and mixed within them.

Saskatoon berries were in full bloom. We picked loads of them!

My youngest using his IZULA. I tol
Him the wood was small enough and he didn’t need to process it. He told me if was good practice. Monkey see, monkey do I guess.

Jeff Randal gave me that knife almost 8 years ago.

Pardon the paper plate and goldfish crackers lol! The young lad is doing a fantastic job paddling in the canoe. A skill I have insisted on teaching my boys.

This is a special picture. On a calm evening, I let my oldest boy “graduate” from Basic canoe skills.

Unassisted in any way, he demonstrated correct technique, completed figured 8’s, hard turns and also demonstrated how he could keep the bow of the canoe on target and paddles straight by alternating sides. Damn proud of him. Over have his life he has been in that exact canoe with me on river trips, lakes...now by himself.

Last parting shot. My kids arranged this big knife and silky saw and insisted on taking a picture to post here for you all. Haha.

@Se7eN your other thread with the “ pry bar” commentary is closed. Unless you are inviting the same thought processes, I would suggest letting it go.
