Several years ago I hurt my foot, stretching out a tendon and screwing up some other stuff. My doc recommended Crocs for wear around the house. I'd always thought that they were kids shoes or for adults that would otherwise be wearing flipflops or velcro closure shoes. They really helped my recovery and I still wear them in the house a lot and occasionally out into the yard. That's as far as I'll wear them, though. Feet and eyes I try to protect as much as possible. Once either are injured you're pretty much screwed. Funny story about those little decorations. When my 19yr old was 3 or 4 she had several pairs of Crocs. We were on vacation somewhere and a little shop has Crocs and a jar of the little add on hole plugs decorations. No licensed or trendy designs like eventually flooded the market, just flowers and ladybugs and such. Wife and daughter thought it was neat and bought a handful. When we got home we couldn't go out in public locally anywhere in North Georgia or the Chattanooga area without a few dozen people stopping us to ask what they were and where we got them. It was so bad some places that I would remove them and stick them in my pocket. We were in Dahlonega and some lady tried to buy them off of us for like $20 a decoration (we'd paid maybe $1 a piece for them). She actually followed us around and had other people offering too. They were so aggressive that we had to leave. My wife probably still has those Crocs and the decorations somewhere, I'll have to ask.
I would buy more of those hole plugs and sell LOTS! $20 for a $1 item? that is how Expat Who Dat makes his money!
They are the ultimate go anywhere shoe. You can wear them in a creek, they dry instantly, don't get heavier when wet, stay soft, breathe, weigh almost nothing--meaning you can walk longer without getting tired. They're the best. The one drawback is when the tread gets like @koolaidnd 's, and you walk on a slick wet floor, they are basically worse than ice skates. That's why I like Flip Pallot's modification above.
I cook...in crocs. I keep saying I will get a new pair, these are slick as snot on the bottom. The fact that I've had them for at least 7 years may be why.
Yeah I was notorious for wearing all winter for running to our unattached garage or hauling the trash tot he dumpster. I ended up on my back a few times. Never learned my lesson though. Pro tip, landing on a holstered beretta 92 hurts. Don’t try it.
As I get older and smarter, my gun gets smaller and smaller. I’m down to a Beretta .25 now. I guess next is just carrying my Buck 110.
Part of me is tempted to buy a pair for quick trips to the mail box and vegetable garden. Plus being seen in public with them would embarrass the s*** out of my teenagers. The other part of me remembers that I'm from the state where Dirty Dancing was filmed, so I don't wanna push it.
I got a doctors not for minimal or no shoes but never used it. When dressed formally for lectures I have Allen Edmonds 13EEE.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I love my Crocs. Versatile, comfortable and they fit my wide feet well. My g/f just surprised me with a new pair to replace my (almost) 10 year old ones. The new ones are a big upgrade - better tread, reinforced toe, more secure straps etc. And quite fashionable!
My offroad buddies give me sh*t for wearing them - but I know they're really just jealous and not confident enough in their manhood to wear them. Best beater shoes hands-down - especially in the water and around camp or around the yard. I still wear my steel-toes in the shop (Crocs don't protect well against welding slag and dropped objects). Also, they did come highly recommended by my podiatrist...so that's enough "proof" for me to keep wearing them. One of my said "off-road" friends recently sent me this:
......exactly..... crocs could be the end of the last shred of dignity you have...!! At least Crocs make one Australian appropriate footwear.... https://www.zulily.com/p_/-52401865.html?rtn=y&page=pdp&tid=googplaAU_1070_2030983167_73543698604_52401868_zcvp2_AU&cc=AU|AUD&gclid=Cj0KCQjw1MXpBRDjARIsAHtdN-2VCl4VZPM5v6uqpKCFqDBIkwh-XuTsqVmgrbOHy4RQNQuCaZgguokaAjjqEALw_wcB
Holy Smokes! It can’t get any better! Kryptek Crocs! https://www.crocs.com/p/offroad-spo....html?cgid=kryptek-collection&cid=260#start=2
This is why Crocs cured my plantar fasciitis when nothing else would. And why they have helped millions of other with their foot issues. This is how Expat Knives would market them, sticker-wise: "Wear Crocs. And you'll never be plagued by foot problems, or long relationships"
