Love it. I don't keep things in a drawer and I don't want to make things that people want to keep in drawers. One of the main reasons for this price point is the fact that you can give this knife away and make someone's day while not really hurting yourself. This can become a particularly useful tact to take when you're traveling overseas living the expat life. Give a 3rd world cop this knife and you've got yourself a police escort even if you don't speak the language. Pay it forward guys, I would like each and every one of you to buy a few dozen of these knives and give them to each of your family members and friends for Christmas. You know, for the children....
This knife is a proper user, yes it's got a solid lockup but that makes it safer ,I've abused this more than some of my fixed blades and it's still rock solid .
Still loving this blade. I abuse it. This is probably the only blade that I just don’t care if I cut through cardboard and against metal surfaces and such. I like the thin handle thickness not adding much bulk in my pocket as well as the lovely deeeeep carry clip. Nice sizable handle and blade, but still uber comfortable in my glove-size-small hands. I saw a YouTube review by Gideonstactical of it that didn’t think it was a good value. The reason: because there are many similar size and build knives that are cheaper and with D2 steel. The problem: the rest that he compared it to, to make the point, looked 99% overly like a piece-of-****-flea-market-tactical Knives, even though they were actually ok brands. All kinds of weird funky angles and holes in stuff. Even the RAT-1 folder is super weird in comparison, and I used to own one. The Medellin has simple, clean, functional lines. Yes, disengaging the lock is hard one handed, but rarely do I have to do such and even if it is easy to do one handed, I’ve never really closed knives that were easy, one handed if at all possible, because I don’t like folding the blade towards my thumb.
I had the same issue. Used a file and some sandpaper to raise the finger groove slightly on the G10 scale, problem solved.
I'm sure the Medellin scales are frn ? I used a dremmel to lower the lip on the scales to expose more of the lock ,it's still a stiff lock but at least you know it's solid .
Haha, I would too. Except I still wanna keep the warrenty intact as well as I’m liable to do an ugly job, lol. It’s a whole lot harder to put material back.
My Medellin arrived really dull. After a few minutes on my Spyderco Sharpmaker, the knife is now scary sharp. I’ve had this knife for about a month but never carried it. I have been carrying an ESEE Izula black oxide since July. I finally decided to go back to EDCing a folding knife and this became my knife of choice. I am really happy with it. I look forward to taking it to the ranch soon to see how it does with food prep and some ranch chores. Hope to have some pics soon.
At the ranch. Taking a break from deer hunting. Some lite work with the Medellín. Just a couple of feather sticks. Coating is holding up against the mesquite sticks. Going to use it to cut up some lunch in a few.
