    2 I knocked down yesterday.
This one was way too close, about 10 yards, I hit him low and zipped him open.

This one came running by at 250 or so, good miss! I hit him far back with the .243. but look at the exit hole!

Thats a good shot on a running coyote at 250 yards. I was planning on heading out very early this morning but -32° windchills kept me inside where its warm. Maybe tomorrow.

Nice! That's a huge contest with that many teams. Did you participate?

I did not participate. My daughter is on two different indoor soccer teams this winter so my nights and weekends are pretty full... maybe someday.

ive been learning to hunt coyotes for quite a while, just dabbling in it. i bought calls, tried calling every now & then, but until last year it just never came together. i had been buying those Primos hunting videos by Randy Anderson and leaning as much as i could.

Last late November i went up to a mountain valley (high desert, lots of rolling sagebrush with a stream & green area) where i knew there were some that id called & shot at before. Set up my Fox Pro Wildfire 2, did a couple mouth calls, then hit pups in distress. i had two on the ground before i knew what happened! my first coyote/s and it was a double!!!

I use a Savage Axis in .223 with a Nikon Pro-staff 3-9 X 40, Federal 55 gr soft points. damned accurate gun for being so affordable!

will hopefully get out more this year but im REALLY waiting till we move back to SD.

I’ve had good luck with .223 handloads w/ Berger 64 gn Flat Base Varmint under Varget and out of a Seekins Precision. Those Berger’s do some gnarly things and very accurate. I tried .25-06 with 115gn Berger VLD handloads before I got the AR....sheeesh. We’ll leave that alone.
