four boys now rescued out of the cave!

    quote:

    WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

    • Four boys have made the hazardous journey out, and are receiving medical treatment.
    • The operation is currently on hold as all the oxygen tanks in the cave have been used up and need replacing.
    • Eight more boys and their coach are still in the cave complex.
    • The boys were each accompanied by two divers as they made their way through pitch darkness, diving through narrow passageways swirling with cold, strong currents.
    • The operation is due to resume tomorrow.

the logistics behind this rescue are amazing.....

    https://www.wired.co.uk/article/thai-cave-rescue-boys-news-tech

something like 2000 air tanks have been used, during the initial survey, caching spare tanks every hundred feet or so in the cave system, and those used by the divers and those brought to the boys whee they are stuck. They expect to go thru thousands more.

Then the hundreds of km's of hoses and pipes brought into the cave to drain it, plus all the massive mine pumps to removes the water.....

    really something.

My understanding is it's a popular cave to visit and while they were in there a monsoon rainfall flooded the cave and that's how they ended up in this situation.

    Here and there...
I have personally spent time in some pretty serious and cool caves & old lava tubes and love it... That being said it is def not for the inexperienced or timid.... This situation is sad to see... IDK what it is but some caves have this draw to them.. The farther and deeper you go it becomes harder and harder to not go deeper and farther.... I imagine by looking at some of the photos that this is one of those caves that just draws you in...

THe whole thing is sad and I’m glad to see that they are still rescuing these folks...

    I’m with you Whitty!

I’ve never thought I was claustrophobic but this thread is making me that way.
