Go for it. You must be better with drill attachments than I am. That surface wouldn't even be close to level if I tried to use a drill for it. Maybe on a drill press?
I'll just give it a hit on my 10 inch and see how it does. I prefer using my 12 inch so it'll be good to have a trial run. I'll post pictures. Maybe on Monday I'll have time to get to it.
I'm a barbarian, I never bother to actually wash the grill. Just more fire and dry wire brush. This is a Lodge I found buried in the yard 8-10" deep while digging a trench for a grey water line. Rotary brushed a few times, washed and reseasoned then back to cooking she went.
Awesome lol how do those grills work? I have been intriqued but they are around $100 and have hesitated. Sometimes for me and her it’s not worth the firing up the whole Weber kettle.
They are nice if you just want some flame/heat grilled food, lacks any type of lid or cover so not like a smoker. Also the surface area is about 4 chicken breast or 4-6 burgers sized, not huge. You won't believe this but I've never bought one, the 1st I found in the deep grass behind an abandoned house, the 2nd was a gift from a guy who got an armor plate custom, and the 3rd was a gift/birthday present. They last 3-4 years but I burn the living dog fire out of them.
they are awesome. If you store them out of the rain they last a LONG time. Scoop the ashes every time your done cooking, spray em down with PAM and cover them with a foil roasting pan. if you really want to sear big slabs of steak, put some lava rock , about 3" deep, in the firebox, then add your lump charcoal and hickory or mesquite wood. Let it get super hot, wipe the grill with an oiled BBQ mop and slap your steaks down. count to 5, flip em. simmering some beans and smoking some big ham steaks
Got this from the neighbor today, exactly what I was looking for to use as a firebox for the smokehouse I want to biuld.
