So I have question for any of the Victorinox SAK gurus @nathan shepherd, @Clown. I had a dilemma today, the combination tool(flathead/bottle opener/can opener)on my favorite Vic Hunter snapped the tip off while tightening a hose clamp screw.

Are any of you familiar with having parts swapped/fixed by Victorinox? I know it'll probably be a bit pricey sending it too Switzerland, but since this was bought for me by my wife when we first started dating in Interlaken it's worth getting fixed properly to me.

Very sorry to hear about your SAK getting injured in the line of duty.

Victorinox has an excellent repair network here in the States:
    https://service.swissarmy.com/

They will also allow you to mark sentimental (unlike Leatherman, which just sends you a brand new tool) so they will try to keep that particular knife with you if you want.

You may also be fortunate enough to be close to a repair center to do a walk-in:

Thanks so very much man!!!! That's truly great news!

I've sent a message into their repair service inquiring about having the part swapped out.

So sorry to hear about your busted combo tool! The Hunter was my very first SAK so I feel your pain. Sounds like you are getting repairs in motion so please let us know how it works out. I have not used Vics warranty as of yet but I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Hope you get that tool fixed. It would be interesting to hear your experience with Victorinox's warranty. I've heard good things about it but have never used it myself.

    Thanks bud!

I'm guessing my wife heard my cussing fit in the backyard and the look on my face probably reminded her of when I broke the finger splitting wood in September. Victorinox is such an awesome company I have no doubts they will.

I received a reply from Victorinox repair. They told me to send it in with a $5 processing fee and they should be able to take care of it and that if there were any issues with doing so they'll call before proceeding.

Aaaand it’s gone! Forgot I had it at a concert last night and wouldn’t be allowed in with it. I held it up for the security guy to see and asked “do you want it”? He enthusiastically said yeah and I threw it at him, bouncing it off his chest, falling to the ground, and said “congratufuckinglations, it’s yours”. Super pissed, but I already have a replacement on it’s way. Oh well, I always wanted a purple one anyway.

Yeah, somehow a lighter isn’t dangerous but a keychain SAK is, I’ve never understood that one. At least I left my Spyderco at home, i would’ve missed the show before giving that one up.

Assuming your car isn’t nearby, maybe putting it a ziploc/plastic bag and burying/stashing it outside the venue might be a good alternative? Even if it gets a little muddy/rusty, you have a better chance of keeping it.
