A few from the last week away....at least the weather cooled off this time...!!! Up on the side of the valley first thing in the morning.... A couple of little bucks that paused long enough for me to get my camera out.... Bored under a tree....so I play with the camera.... and putting it to work.... And because they tell me my .32 ASH1 is too thick for dressing game, just knocked out the back straps but it worked a treat !! And a dear friend once asked me to photograph the stars I talk about when I am up in this country....so I tried, not sure I do them justice though !!
Thanks Andy, it was interesting to see your photos of the night sky, it really is hard to convey to someone who spends their life in an urban environment the incredibly spectacular blanket of stars that you see when in a remote wilderness setting , but I think your photos give a fair representation, and a thoughtful undertaking to try to show them to your friend.
What a beautiful and amazing country. Thank you for sharing. If the pictures make the stars look that good I can only imagine in person. So let’s talk about that neat little trailer to the left of the bike
Thanks All.... It is a great spot ! As for that trailer, it was a custom build to my request by a trailer maker here in Sydney. It is a 6x4 high side on their 4x4 package. This is a heavier full frame and heavier axle/spring set up. I had them build it around a set of tyres and rims I already had that match the stud pattern of my Landcruiser and the track is matched closely as well. I have some other pics I will dig out, it has a pair of Jerry Can holders forward of the guards and a 360deg hitch and draw-bar storage box I added. It is a pretty good set up for what I need.
Got to get down there some time. The Americas have cool scaly and fuzzy creatures but nothing compared to that area.
That old house where the rifle cleaning pic is taken plays host to any number of Eastern Brown Snakes every year (under the floor/verandah). In the warmer months I am always waving the light about when I wander outside for a pee in the dark !!! I am sure you would have fun outside there saying hello to them !!!
When I went to the maker they were poo pah'ing what I was asking for....tyre/wheels THAT big wont work on a 6x4....we will need to make custom sized guards...it's just not right...etc etc..... when I went to collect it (they built it in under a week for me) they were all fawning over it and taking pics etc. He fessed up that now he really liked it once he saw it together. As you can see in the first pics it came standard with a ball hitch but I changed that out to the one pictured at the bottom (and added a jockey wheel with a nice large pneumatic tyre) a few months later.
