New Gear: TR-Gear Grabber grappling hook

Just got the delivery notice from Canada Post! this bad ass bit of kit is sitting literally 500 feet from my apt , in the little Canada Post outlet up the street.

the second i saw this posted for sale by Boker55, i had tohave it. When I used to climb trees with chainsaw for windfirming, we had smaller versions of these. Once at the top of one tree, we would throw the hook to the next tree, and pull ourselves over and at the same time lower ourselves on our arborists ropes. Once lanyarded in on the new tree, we would pull our rope from the old tree. Going from tree to tree in the woods is a blast.

I plan many uses for this much bigger hook

 

That has a really high "cool" factor.
