A few years back I bought an AR and it came with an optic. One I never would have considered purchasing separately for myself. That optic was the TRS-25. Mine came without the riser, but I've read that they're not that great anyway. I picked up a cheap 3/4" riser and it's worked fine for me. You can get it here for under $100 - http://shop.opticsplanet.com/bushne...plusbox-beta&gclid=CK_I3cbX_NECFVaBswodfgcKhQ There's not really much to say about it, other than it just works. I've never had it lose zero, and the battery life is pretty good. I left it on (level 4 out of 11) and it finally died after about 8 months. That's not Aimpoint type battery life, but it's also not Aimpoint money. I've used this on several rifles while trying to figure out what to do with them. It hasn't given me a single issue.
I've heard similar positive reviews of this optic. I would think it would be a good investment for someone that either wasn't sure what they wanted, didn't have a lot of money to spend and didn't need to overbuy for their needs, or someone that had a bunch of rifles to put optics on and couldn't afford half dozen Aimpoints.
It's a pretty solid option for .22 rifles. Compact, accurate, and affordable. I have one on my Ruger 10/22 takedown and think they make a nice pair.
Got one on my AR to hold over till aimpont $$$ builds up... until I started using it. Love it. Works great, it may not be indestructo but I'm not running my rifle that hard. Cowitness perfect with my iron sights and my rig was $83 with the riser! Shananananana
