I'd really like to take the advanced bushcraft class in March 2018. Do these classes fill quickly? I guess what I'm asking is if I should reserve now in order to get in.

Are there any special requirements I should know of or be prepared for? I don't want to hold everyone else back. Should I be able to hike a certain number of miles? I didn't see a PT test requirement on this class, but is there anything I should be aware of?

I've got a lot of questions about several things, please be patient with me. I'm trying to find a former self, so to speak, and I'm years out of the loop.

Ill toss my 2 cents in while waiting for the big boss men to answer you. Classes filling up is random. If its the class you want and youre going id go ahead and reguster to get a spot. Nothings worse then wanting to go, having the time off and not having a spot.

The bushcraft course is not like field survival with its pt test etc. There is some physicality ill bet but not demanding like some of the other courses.

Thanks, that gives me some insight. From what I've read, y'all seem to enjoy these classes and that gets my interest up even more.

They sound fun, and y'all seem like you have a blast. But my high speed low drag days were 30 years ago. I just want to make sure I don't burden the group.

(I'm sorely lacking the Christmas ham biceps and tattoos, you see.. I still have six pack abs, but the fat offers both cover and concealment nowadays.)

Probably he isn't, but then again it wouldn't be the first time I've been a figment of someone's imagination..

Wait...I read in another thread that there's a rule about how many posts are allowed before the thread is subject to to mandatory derailment?

I have more clown pics, ya know....

Thanks guys. I try to curtail my madness when using the black5 name. I tend to hang with some lunatics on a prepper/homesteader type site. (Not one of the "famous" ones.) Very similar to what I've been watching here. Kinda wished I'd used my other screen name. The lovely people at a bushcraft forum may find out what I'm really like!

I can second this, I have done the Field Survival, Ditch Medicine and highly recommend both. I am signed up for the Bushcraft for this year and doing the SRT class next year and any other one I get go to.

I would LOVE to do the field survival. The pics remind me of a time in my life when younger and even more handsome.

Back in '83 I was tasked to work with a Ranger company. One of the requirements was a week long orientation to Ranger operations. I know exactly what my ass looks like, because I had it handed to me several times.

Field survival was a great class, I am trying to get the weight down and have been training to meet the running requirements to do it again.

Unfortunately, due to a spinal injury, I'm not sure I could pass the test.
I can still do a lot, just slower now, it seems. I hate it.

You may want to try the survival intensive, @Strigidae may be able to clarify but I don't know if it has the same running requirements. That one on the list too.
