Standing on the shore Lake Superior. Humans are insignificant when dealing with this man killer of a lake. It doesn't care how hot **** you are, it will smash you.

Ship with a tug and three barges in front of it.

Same ship with tug and barges passing.

Duluth Pack store. The pictures salesperson had no knowledge of axes but I overlooked it.

Gransfors Bruks and Hults Bruks axes. My wife was clear that I don't need another ax. The smallest GB hatchet had a terrible handle BTW. Not impressed.

And the saws. Bob Dustrude and Sven Saws. Nearly bought the big Dustrude saw.

Now we are waiting for a 875' ore freighter to depart.

1,000' American Century leaving Duluth harbor. Makes a guy feel real small.

I have seen examples ot the gb hatchet. And one pretty horrible example online. It looks like they stuck the haft in a giant pencil sharpener then just crammed it in the eye. They had spaces. The one online looked like they did zero fitting. It is thicker than the head below the ears then gets thinner in a cone shape. The handle should fit under the ears flush or the ears should be cut in. What they did is just plain lazy. I mentioned to the person online that that was unacceptable for any ax and at that price point one should demand better. I got bombarded with the usual excusatory fanboy defense mechanism foolishness.

Lucky to have this Stately Home a mile from where I live. This picture was taken tonight when I was out on a 5 mile run.

Yes. There is a pretty large herd of Park deer. It's said many hundreds of years ago, the Lady of the Manor disliked hunting and kept deer in the grounds to prevent them being harmed. The tradition continues today.

We turn all fish over 5 pounds loose. They take a long time to grow this big up here so there's no reason to kill this brute. A fish this big is probably 10 years old.
