227' deep pit. Rappelled it twice and climbed it twice, just for fun. Managed to rescue two snakes at the bottom of the pit and one of our team climbed them out in his backpack. Fun day.

We loaded 6 people in the 4Runner with gear on top to make it up the 2 miles of 4WD road to access the pit.

It's cool doing vertical stuff since you get to access places no one else can. Only way into this pit is down a rope or fall off the edge. Only way out is climb the rope or in a litter. This particular entrance has about a mile of horizontal cave at the bottom. We explored a bit of it and got to see some cool places.

Caving is a blast. Id like to get back into that again. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Some places aint no one gonna get you out of. Ha!!

This particular cave is where Samuel Crawford and Michael Hanebaum lost their life in June of '84. There were waiting for their turn to ascend back out and a 30' x 30 rock flaked off the edge, came tumbling down and crushed them. Not sure if they ever recovered the bodies but the rock is still there and it's huge.

Just when I was trying to dislike @Jeff Randall he pulls off a snake rescue.

Cool pics and nice vertical work.

It wasn't me, DJ. One of our team members took it upon himself to rescue these two snakes. I think everyone else voted to put them out of their misery.

When I was a small kid, I had about an hour long chat with dad about what happened at Valhalla that ended with him beating me half to death. :D

I have always remembered it whenever I was in a cave. Those guys didn't have a chance from what I recall.

Well that's it. Officially unfriended on the Book of Feces.

Tell your TM that I do appreciate him protecting the symbol of my faith.

Got anymore pics of the horizontal? H20 there?
