I have not been squirrel hunting in 35 years. That video has inspired me to go this year. It was my fathers passion. The video made me a think of my mother who was excellent at cooking squirrel . She would however insisted that little fellow go in a stew as his age disqualified him from the fry pan. I now have a squirrel cooker on the way from Wolf creek forge. Now to pick out which gun...
I just got back from Bed Bath and Beyond. I checked for squirrel cookers next to the rice cookers but didn't see them. So I asked a salesperson and she called the cops on me.
I am a terrible cook, I was just in the presence of a great one as a child and did not know it. I remember the young squirrels were fried and the older ones were used in stew. Mostly cat squirrels but we also had fox squirrels. I will check bed bath and beyond, hopefully my lack of facial tattoos and general gentlemanly appearance will have a different outcome. I will post the results. I will not need another gun...But if I get my .22 suppressor before the season I will use my CZ 455. If not maybe the same in .17 or 22 mag. I hunted mostly with a shotgun in my youth but my squirrel cooker will only hold so many. I am older and much more sneaky now and do not wear shoes so the rimfire should suffice.
Just a random comment, but I rarely wear shoes as I am mostly retired and see no need for them. I think it will be an advantage while still hunting squirrels. I often dove hunt unshod as in the pic...which I attached to show off my 28 gauge. The real question is why do YOU wear them?
Wow...I did not mean to derail! I might try shooting with my feet so I can take pics of the birds falling! Toenail fungus is one of the many things not wearing shoes cures. Is anyone else waiting on suppressor stamps? I sent mine off in October.
If you sent it off in October then it will probably be in very soon. One of mine took 6 months, another took about 8. I've got another one I'm going to start the process on soon. A small wet suppressor:
