Hack73 here from Vinton, VA. Got my 1st ESEE for Christmas. It was the Laser Strike. Since then, I've purchased a ESEE 6 w/ TKC scales and a still new ESEE 4 from an individual. The ESEE 4 has black scales that appear to be G10. It looks like the one with the orange scales. I can't find it and wondering if it has been discontinued?
Thanks for the reply Jeff! I like them as far as color goes but it looks like I was misled. I really love the size of it for EDC however I wear XXL or XXXL gloves depending on brand. Not sure if I want to take a chance on the TKC scales. I need this knive with 1" more handle to be perfect.
Just sent him a message and he told me he purchased it new at Smokey Mountain Knife Works and it came like that.
I was looking at that but I do like having the exposed pommel. I haven't found anywhere around here that sells them. Id like to get my hands on it. I purchased 2 in the last 2 weeks. Im loving the ESEE experiance so far but I can't lose my house.
And cleavers. We are short on cleavers so we are taking them in trade. (Include a sharpie if you have one).
The extended TKC scales do add some length to the grip. Let me get you a picture. The 3 and 4 handles are interchangeable except for the extended TKC iirc.
Some potentially relevant pics. ESEE 3 uncoated with LMF Joe Scales. The added girth gives you a lot extra to hold onto. The front is flat to fit the stock sheaths. The TKC scales do not all fit stock sheaths. ESEE 4 in black with the same exact LMF Joe scales. Venom Green ESEE 3 with the extended black g10 TKC scales. Black clip point 4 with stock ESEE canvas micarta scales. Stock laser strike and a black ESEE 6 with blue/black g10 TKC scales. You can see the extended black scales for the 3 make it almost as long as the laser strike. You can also see that the stock thickness of the 3 and 4 are different and how that would be a problem for the extended scales. In the first picture all the knives were lined up from the front of the scale using a flat, but the actual main hand opening on the laser strike is much farther back than the TKC Extended. And before you guys get on me, I have plenty of ESEE users. This just mostly isn't them.
