My leather from @Colton is top notch. I like it much better than any kydex.

I'm a true believer in Kydex. Almost all of my knives have it. Retention is the reason, nothing sucks worse than finding an (unexpected) empty sheath on your belt. BTDT.

I know ESEE says molded plastic is better but I don't leave my knives in a hot car and don't live where heat is a problem so I vote Kydex.

I like both Kydex and/or plastic so long as it is ambidextrous and has good knife retention. Ideally if it allows for multiple carry methods then even better.

Molded. They can be made more form-fitting and fine-tuned than kydex and hold up better in a wider range of temperatures. I tend not to have issues with heat, but Maine can get pretty cold at times. Polymer also affords the opportunity for greater 3D complexity with things like thumb ramps The downside is that it's way more costly to have injection molding tooling made vs. thermoforming kydex on a production basis.

I prefer kydex on my Esees... love the 'snap' when they pop in out of it.

    Leather.

Original. Old school. The only one on the list made by God.

Depends on the knife. If it's a no nonsense working blade like an ESEE, kydex all the way.

If it's a more classic styled blade (Randall, Buck etc), leather. But it has to be solid leather, and well fit. Only way to get this, in my experience, is by hand making each sheath for each individual blade.
