Hey, you don't offer up X amount of free stuff to a bunch of logo whores, and think they're going first waste precious time reading the entire thread, to determine whether or not any of said items are still left! Time is crucial people!
As a side note to talking about fine rust-proof knives, we mailed all the patches out today so yall should get them soon.
In all seriousness, we have been investigating doing a pitted finish on our blades. Basically salt bath them until they deep-pit rust then remove the surface rust and re-grind to leave only the pits. I think it would be a really cool finish to have on production knives.
This may be a dumb question, but are you planning on putting your coating over the pitted finish, or leaving the steel bare?
No it would be a bare bones rusted finish. About like finding a 100 year old railroad spike and sanding it smooth leaving the deeply embedded pits.
Thats the explanation behind the cleaver delay-we've got 500 of them soaking in a bay off of Tortola waiting for the salt sea to work it's magic. I'll be flying down in the springtime to pick them up.
Theres a gun shop near me that will make your AR look battle worn. Some sort of dip or spray paint to make it look beat up and operator as fred flintstone. I do it to all my guns so i dont get made fun of when i shoot a finger off.
I think the easiest thing to do is we just start shipping uncoated knives in a bag of damp salt with a piece of sandpaper. Ship them by USPS so they take half a year to arrive.
Thats why he's the owner, people. Problem solving. Work smarter, not harder. Lets see the Chinese try to counterfeit salt.
mmmm... Pusser's. Thanks for reminding me to make a run to the ABC store. I'm out of rum, and half my Christmas recipes take it.
Jeff, I could probably save you some time on the salt soak. Send them to me in bulk, I'll let my wife use them. I swear that woman could rust plastic.
