Apparently I do. My oldest niece is bad about chewing with her mouth open and talking with food in her mouth. Last Christmas at my grandma's she stood up in her chair and was talking with her mouth full. I tried to tell her from across the table to sit down and close her mouth. She is also hard headed and I wasn't going to yell over the other conversations in the room, so I slapped the table to get her attention. My uncle at the other end of the table nearly jumped out of his chair, he said "man you can't be doing that. I live up in north Georgia now. When you hear something like that you think someone is shooting the place up." I can't stand it, unfortunately my dad has had mouth cancer twice. They have removed part of his tongue, and jaw bone. Then the radiation destroyed his teeth. He has a hard time eating now.
@Expat -- what does the sound of a pump action shotgun trigger in you? And since you mentioned it....................aw never mind.
Dogs barking. Drives me up a wall. Even if it's a long ways off, and I can barely hear it, my mind/ears zoom right in on it.
This is totally dependent on if I missed or not. People with misophonia aren't upset at all noise, just UNNECESSARY noise. Big difference. Shooting is necessary. Scraping the bowl 5,000 times with your spoon to get the last .00000000002 grams of melted ice cream is NOT NECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shop fans. I keep mine on low speed. Everyone else at work turns theirs wide open, I can't stand the noise,
You certainly have a knack for "a turn of a phrase". It is probably a miracle you have managed to remain married.
It is indeed a miracle. One day my wife will probably just kill me in my sleep. My only request is that she doesn't make a lot of noise doing it.
While there are varying degrees and triggers of this, the only one that drives me completely batty is hearing people chew. This includes myself. I have to either be in a loud environment while eating, or have music playing to drown out the horrible sound...
