A few weeks back I had the privilege of instructing the first RAT Desert Survival & Bushcraft class out in Winslow Arizona. The students were great, and even though it was a small class (thanks 2020) a lot was shared and learned. Definitely looking forward to the next one, and other classes we’ll run out here in the future. Some topics covered: shelter (natural and artificial), knot work, friction fire, modern fire, finding and treating water, natural containers, primitive cordage, locating and making traps, and others. Here are some photos from the class. Enjoy!
I can't believe there was a trip to the desert and Jeff didn't send me an invite !!! Great pics. Out here sun and dehydration kills more people than the wildlife and serial killer combined...!!
You want to hop over the pond, it’s more desert for ya! Same here. Dehydration and exposure are our biggest threats as well (deserts the world over really). Lots of talk about sweat equity throughout the class. Your snakes are meaner than ours I think....rattlers at least give a fella a proper warning. lol
