Has anyone forced a PR4 with TKC scales into stock leather sheath and attempted to stretch it out? Suggestions on PR4 sheath to accommodate TKC scales, besides the sheath on TKC site? Thanks
@Paul Revear You can carefully unstitch the top of the sheath and add a little piece of leather for spacing. I did this for mine and it works great!
Guys I haven't been on the forum much in quite some time. But I really appreciate everyone who has a PR4 and especially those who have made it their own. If there is something about it you can change to you liking then by all means make it yours! Keep posting up pics!
Here's a shot from earlier today with a pile of fatwood curls. The slim stock used for this blade really makes it ideal for nimble cutting and slicing. The 90° spine is one of my favorites to process/shave bark or strike a ferro rod with. I like to carry mine horizontally on my belt ("scout" carry) with a Tek Lok in an ESEE exclusive Armatus sheath.
Since you have both, is the PR4 basically the same as a Laserstrike fwd of the choil? It’s always looked that way to me in pictures.
Yep, the grind and blade profile are almost identical. The LS is noticeably thicker and has almost an inch in length on the PR4.
You know the first time I saw a pic of the PR4 I thought it was too ugly for me to buy one. Uh, now I'm having a hard time resisting....
I can say the PR4 is the ugliest knife I own, and it is the best knife I own. No matter what knife I buy or use I always go back to the stock PR4.
I’ve told Patrick R. how much I hate the scales on the PR4 and he seemed completely ok with it I swapped them for TKC scales and LOVE the knife! I have thoroughly beaten the crap out of mine and have not had one issue.
no no no stock scales for life! (Wish I could get orange but stock) Lol although I am having a hard time buying a second PR4. Mine “went missing” (aka stolen from my truck) but I just can’t bring myself to get another one... mine was an original with a camp lore logo and the new ones have the blocky Esee logo. It will be okay. I’ll order a new one before my first fall outing.
@BlueDogScout It honestly isn’t the look or feel or material that I have a problem with. It’s the overall grip thickness that causes me ALOT of problems. If they where about a 1/4 inch total thickness thicker then my fat hands would be able to hold it. Stock it is just hard for me to hold and extremely uncomfortable. I’ve shared this before but this is the setup that really works for me Only thing I will likely change is to file down the scales slightly to increase the grip similar to the stock scales. I can’t disagree that stock is thin but the TKC scales are just too thick for me. Although I do love the orange of your setup. What sheath is that? I just kept the stock leather but that looks nice.
Treated the leather sheath And knife with ballistol and then added the lanyard to the knife. It is now ready for the next adventure.
