We are always planning a "next trip". This one was hatched during April and May CV boredom. My Wife is really into maps, always looking at maps, which usually comes up with ideas for the "next trip". Looks like this one is moving from planning stage to fruition. Subject to change without notice. Departing next weekend for two months.
WI, MI, across the fruited plain, MT, ID, WY and back .
Going in the RV so we have made some reservations at private parks, state parks, moochdocking, and maybe some NFS properties.
Longest stay is in and around Libby , MT and the Cabinet Mountains. This trip we are towing the Jeep Wrangler and bringing a new inflatable kayak instead of the inflatable boat and motor. Looks to be lots of 4X4 opportunities in the National Forests. Hope to get to some 4X trail ends that might be less traveled originating for hikes.
Bought a year subscription to All Trails Pro and for RV travelers, Harvest Host, which are overnight stays at farms, wineries, golf course parking lots, breweries, etc that provide overnight stays with no hookups. Will see how that works out as an adjunct alternative to a KOA for example.
Most campground facilities are limited. Many have closed the bathrooms and or shower facilities. You must be self contained. Some aren't allowing tents since there are no services.

Last year at this time we were leaving for AK. Sure glad we got that trip in then.

Oil, fuel, air filters and transmission services completed. Good for another 20K miles.
Back seat is out of the Jeep. Kayak is shipping from CA today. I never tire of these adventures.

A couple Kayak Videos and specifications.
Aquaglide Blackfoot 125HB Angler. Bought the extra seating gear for the second person.
Purchased it from Air Kayaks in CA.

And my favorite, despite that fact that Canada is Closed for Business. I'll get there one of these days.

Kayak and accessories arrived today. Just in time for Sunday's departure.
Fit nicely in the back of the Jeep. Its first wetting will probably be Lake Michigan, Manistique.

Purchased one Scotty Mount rod holder to try. Will likely add one more.
Also got a soft cooler that I'm going to use as a day dry bag container.
Put together a couple small tackle boxes. Most of my gear is salt water so I made a trip to Wally and talked to a local Bassmaster for some tips and watched a couple of videos.

We are hoping to stay in Libby, Montana for at least a week if things go to plan. There's a lake, Bull Lake with all sorts of fish life, pike, bass, salmon so that's pretty exciting. It's near Troy.

We scratched going west due to high temps.
Maybe CO in a month but maybe not due to fires and smoke.

The UP and NW MI have been fantastic. None of the above. Moderate Temps and plenty of outdoor activities. 20200816_145938.jpg

    Kayak has performed beyond expectations.
Fished and cruised it on Lakes MI and Lelanau.

Apple chicken brat, pickled asparagus, homemade potato salad, snap peas, tomatoes.
    All bounty of NW MI.

Beautiful pictures. I love that kayak! Does it transport easy when deflated? How durable is it? Would it handle rivers with rocky bottom?

    Kayak is 1000 and 600 D PVC.
Take a look at the videos showing a guy using it in Class Rapids.
7 bailers. You can use different skeg fins.
I have an Achilles brand inflatable thats 20 years old.
Rocks from Canada to the Keys.
    No cuts no punctures...yet.
Packs in an included bag. About 3 foot square by one foot. 38lbs.
Extreme lightweights for river running are many.
    Look at airkayaks.com.

    A couple of woodland hikes.

Just to tie up loose ends we stayed in NW MI for 6 weeks and didn't go west. Too hot and too many fires. Been there done that. Not again.

Love your pictures. Always enjoy seeing parts of the country that I've not been able to enjoy myself. That inflatable kayak really is the cats ass! Absolutely perfect for your lifestyle.
