Whats going on fellas? Good to see and talk to you guys again. So at the beginning of this year my family and I were fortunate enough to move to the Teton Valley area. We finally escaped the flat lands of the Midwest for the mountains. The move was rough and getting settled in took a little longer than I expected but I survived. This is why I haven't really been posting on here but trust me I've been lurking. So I've gone from tiny forrest preserves to being surrounded by National Forrests and Mountains on 3 sides of my house. My explorations have been limited but I wanted to share some with you guys. Hope you enjoy.

Here is the view of the Grand Tetons on the way back from the Grand Targhee Ski resort while driving home.

Took the family to the Falls Creek Falls this spring and it's absolutely stunning.

The outdoor opportunities here are extremely vast and abundant.

    From the biking...

To all the fishing opportunities... I've never been fly fishing before but look forward to learning and doing it a bunch. It's a big switch from the muskie fishing I'm used to doing that's for sure.

To the animal/bird watching and hunting opportunities ...

I was no more than 20 yards from this moose. I'm very excited about the animals that can be hunted around here. Already getting the hunting rifle tuned up and hunting loads made for the possibility of bagging a deer and hopefully an elk. I purchased a new shotgun for turkey, water fowl and all the different upland game birds as well.

And of course the camping and hiking is top shelf here.

So far I've only been on two solo camps but I just ordered a Nemo Equipment 3 person Losi tent because the Eureka downrange solo is just way too cramped for me. Once that gets here then there will be way more over nights. Definitely want to do a ton of camping before the snow starts to fall which it does a ton here. We average 110 inches of snowfall annually here!

This place is a photographers dream as well.

Well boys I just wanted to share what has been going on over here on my end. Thanks for checking out the post and if any of you live around or visit the Teton Valley area shoot me a message. It would be nice to meet any of you guys. Hope you all are staying safe during these very strange times we are living in. I also hope you have been getting out in the woods and are beating on some knives!

It was a long hard road for my family to finally get out West but we made it. My wife and I have been wanting to move to the mountains for over 10 years.

Where abouts in ID? Nearest City?
We lived in SW ID for four years and have been back a number of times.
If lucky in a few weeks we will come south from Libby, MT to Sandpoint, Coeur d Alene, McCall, Boise, Stanley to Jackson.

Took the family to Teton National Park in Wyoming last weekend to see Jenny Lake and the Tetons from the other side that we're used to.

    IMG_0112.jpg IMG_0123.jpg IMG_0113.jpg

There is a really cool bronze 3D map of the mountain ranges at Jenny Lake.

    The Tetons.

Saw the absolute biggest Ravens I've ever seen in my life there. The pics don't do justice at how big these birds were. We also saw pronghorn antelope on the way in and a bunch of different squirrels. Jenny Lake is home to black and grizzly bears, moose, deer, and other large animals.

    IMG_0135.jpg

Saw these dudes do some free diving. Jenny Lake is 256 feet deep at it's deepest point.

Took the family huckleberry picking this week and got a nice little haul. Filled up our first sandwich bag. Going to go back out this weekend and try to find some more. Little devils taste so good!

We also did some cherry and currant picking at our friend's houses. We picked 2 different varieties of cherry, one sweet and the other sour. I want to make some jams and a spicy cherrie chutney.

Looks very familiar! I'll definitely post up winter pictures for the thread! Where I'm at we average over 100 inches of snow annually. So we definitely get some pretty nice snow storms. I hope you had a great time out here! Hopefully going to get out for some upland game bird hunting this weekend. Thanks for sharing!

First successful Grouse hunt is in the books! Was very lucky and limited out pretty quickly with just a hair under a mile of walking to find them.

Going to mount my first tail fan on a nice plaque I bought. Going to go back out this Saturday and to see if I can bag some more!
