    Nope. It's a South eastern native.

    This stuff is blooming in my area right now. If no one knows it I'm pretty sure I can crack it with a little detective work. It reminds me of an azalea bush with its woody stems. But it has a floral arrangement similar to what my grandmother called a hurricane lilly. I checked my reference guide and it didn't appear to have one in bloom in it, but likely has the leaves somewhere. I'm going to stop and check a patch of them out on a local roadside.

    The leaves fully develope after the flowers drop. You've been the closest on it, so I'll give it to you. Wild Azalea;
    Rhododendron canescens

    Oh, right on. I found that patch in my area. It looked even more azalea-like when I got up on it. I took a small branch with some leaves home. But I could not find it in my reference guide. Maybe that's a hint that I need a newer/more comprehensive field guide. I'll likely get one up at the earliest tomorrow. Thanks man!

    Here we go fellas. This one has a wide range. It's an herbaceous flowering plant and I've read that Native Americans had multiple medicinal uses for it.

    Let’s bring this thread back.

    Both pics contain the same two species just wanted to get a better shot of the leaves on the shrub. I’m sure @Kaw-liga has these under wraps C1EE28D9-A20D-48A2-8FA3-D860FDDFF466.jpeg

    Nope, one of them is often confused with wax myrtle. The other is a parasitic plant, more noticeable in the first sample than the second.
