Well, it's an idea born from so many backbackers/ outdoorsmen stealing salt and pepper packets from the local Macdonalds. First off, stealing is wrong. Secondly, why not something more all purpose? Something that seasons wild game, blends well in soups and stews, and makes freeze dried meals more palatable. It had to be lightweight, easily packed in a backpack and versatile. That's REH Original.
We've also added another product that goes right along with the versatility of REH Original called B-Fat.
    Firestarter
    Cast iron seasoning
    Blade/tool rust preventer
    Leather treatment
    Wood conditioner
    Much more...
All contained in larger, easy to use lip balm style tube. Check out our website for more info on both products.

I have used the B-Fat on several cast iron skillets and it works great.

I have come to believe that fat that is solid at room temperature, such as B-Fat or Crisco, season better than oils that are liquid at room temperature. I have no science to back that up, just what I've noticed. B-Fat is great because of the application method--the tube.

You absolutely need a tube if you're in the backcountry. You can use it for all the things Casey says.

These are some great products. The B Fat easy to use and has lots of usages. The seasoning is awesome. This make even MRE tasty. You always need a little swag with the patches. Highly recommend trying it.

The B-Fat is great for rust prevention. Here's a couple of Opinels I've had in my backyard in the rain and Alabama humidity for over a month. Top knife has been treated with B-Fat.

Smokey C's can't associate with Lodge. Lodge's warranty doesn't cover rust. Can you believe that???....Rust. What kind of crappy company doesn't cover rust under warranty??? Their loss.

Hey Casey, is the Red Eyed Hog original the same as your Smokey C's pit powder? I need to pick up a few more bottles!

Similar but different. The REH is designed to be a little more all purpose. Some of the ingredients in the Pit Powder were more of a course grind. The REH is a finer product so it will blend into soups and stews better than the Pit Powder. It has a different flavor profile and we also used some higher/finer grade ingredients.

Possibly. It may have the opposite effect. Still doing some product testing. Pictures will be up soon.

Yessir, It's at the restaurant website. http://www.smokeycsbbq.com/ Smokey's is a partnership between my brother and I. Nothing has changed there. We will still sell the same BBQ products on Smokey's website. REH is a totally different business than the restaurant. It's actually a business venture between my wife and I. (shes the boss) It will be mostly outdoor cooking related. (bushcraft, campfire, backpacker cooking) The idea with REH is versatile, smaller, lightweight outdoor cooking products for the adventurer/ outdoorsman.
