As a newbe I am still learning about knife steels. I like ESSE as a company and like their warranty. Am I to understand that the upcoming S35vn knife steel is not as good of a stainless steel for a knife as the 4 stainless steels you specified above?
The steels I listed are all kinds of stainless that give excellent or very good toughness paired with decent edge retention while S35VN. CPM-154 would be the most wear-resistant of the ones listed but also least resilient, but it'd be tougher than S35VN. The other two perform much like a very tough carbon steel, but stainless. I consider AEBL and 14C28N the most in line with ESEE's overall design ethos and intended contexts of use. Thought I'd share a few photos from today!! @Patrick Rollins and I did a photo and video shoot for some new stuff....Here is a teaser!
Digging the new scales and glad that people are getting stainless like they want but still hoping for some 3v for me lol
That'd be the Xancudo fixed blade we're introducing this year. More info about it in our new catalog on page 2: https://eseeknives.com/sites/default/files/2020-esee-catalog.pdf
Spear point, exaggerated half guard and opening in handle to facilitate blood draining while on a mission. Tacti-cool all the way.
